-44 We should clap when a plane lands, amirite?

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Yeah was gonna say, I show up & fix the heating at an office building. I want a clap for doing the bare minimum of my job.

by Norbert74 4 months ago

I'm clapping so hard for you

by Anonymous 4 months ago

In OPs defence I once prevented a ransomware attack and nobody clapped but I really would have liked it if they did. Nobody cares man, feels bad :'(

by billupton 4 months ago

That's different. That's an acute situation that required a skillful and swift response. If the captain and flight crew averted a mid flight disaster, hell yeah I would clap.

by Outrageous-Mirror 4 months ago

Psn goes back online, applause

by Anonymous 4 months ago

That's a good idea

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Worth it

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Almost all of what you described are due to the design and manufacturing of the plane, not the pilot and air crew. Why don't you go and stand outside the Boeing plant and clap when they build the things instead?

by Significant_Bid_9870 4 months ago

The people at Boeing need to concentrate, don't distract them. The day they left that Alaska airlines door loose was probably Hawaiian shirt Friday.

by ansel30 4 months ago

Ok i will thanks for the suggestion

by Anonymous 4 months ago

lol yeah owning it! ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿฝ

by rosannaquigley 4 months ago

Found the non clapper

by More-Inspector 4 months ago

Not sure about clapping but not thanking the pilot if they're standing there is wild. Not sure how you can just walk past them without even so much as a head nod.

by Bodepiper 4 months ago

It's definitely not miraculousโ€ฆ i show them respect by paying like a months rent for a flight, that's good enough

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Idk. In light of recent events, I'll be sweating bullets the next time I fly until I'm back on solid ground.

by Downtown_Dot 4 months ago

Real. ๐Ÿ˜‚

by Anonymous 4 months ago

$700 for a domestic flight between two major transport hubs kinda proves the point.

by Classic-Biscotti 4 months ago

700 for rent? Lmk where you live

by Old_Side_5089 4 months ago

Ohio fr

by Cautious_Roll8468 4 months ago

I'm in Columbus 1400 for a 1 bed.

by Old_Side_5089 4 months ago

Well.. yeah, what high cost area is going to have "cheap" living arrangements? When I lived in Cleveland I was paying $1300 for a one bedroom apartment... on a 3rd floor with no elevator. Terrible.

by Cautious_Roll8468 4 months ago

I would not consider Cbus HCOL

by Old_Side_5089 4 months ago

They said last minute. Book a round trip flight anywhere in the US a few weeks ahead of time and it'll cost you 275-400. I also don't know anywhere I could get an apartment for 700/month

by Weissnatconner 4 months ago

My months rent is a little under $700

by Anonymous 4 months ago

My flight to Japan cost me $3000

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Congrats. Does that change the fact that last minute flying across the US twice for $700 is pretty cheap. And a lot more common than your little Japan experience

by Old_Side_5089 4 months ago

Uhm so your point is that you should clap because it's cheap to fly within the US? A months rent isn't dramatic. Not everyone lives in the US.

by vmurphy 4 months ago

I've seen people clap after a plane landing many times Of course, it was because we were landing in Las Vegas

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Lol you are so funny xD

by Physical_Eggplant280 4 months ago

As we said in the Navy choose your rate, Choose your fate. Do you clap for the cooks in back when they make you a dinner that doesn't give you food poisoning?

by Nice-Beginning 4 months ago

Did you fly through the sky like Zeus at the restaurant?

by Anonymous 4 months ago

I feel like Zeus would fly himself like Bruce Dickerson.

by Nice-Beginning 4 months ago

No, but I ate food that would make Demeter and Hestia blush.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

After the past few weeks, I agree.

by Gold-Stock 4 months ago

Puerto Ricans do this routinely for landings.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Do you clap after a microwave successfully heats up your food?

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Pilots and cabin crew are people, microwaves are not.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

I'm clapping. Thay crew just had every one of our lives in their hands, and they do it with integrity. Aviation is probably the strictest industry on safety and protocol and training, etc. For good reason. Flying is freaking awesome at any level from a single prop Cessna to a Commercial passenger jet, to a Blackhawk Helicopter. These people do a stressful, demanding job day in and day out. People working easy menial jobs don't perform at anywhere near that level of responsibility and pressure. In most jobs, a mistake doesn't cost yours and hundreds of lives in an instant. Pilots make good money, but in my opinion, they deserve more. The CEO certainly isn't under that much pressure.

by Beneficial_Carob_671 4 months ago

they should clap for me! for they are lucky i am on their plane!

by Anonymous 4 months ago

No they're not. You'll fly and you'll like it. What are you gonna do? Walk? Drive?

by Downtown_Dot 4 months ago

me personally? i could probably swim there in a few hours if we're talking trans continental. but because i am concerned for their business, i purchase a ticket anyway

by Anonymous 4 months ago

๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ Do you clap for your builder? Or road workers? They spent years learning their skills too.

by reed53 4 months ago

It was rhetorical, sarcastic and I was responding to OP, but I get that's it's harder to figure out when written. Couple things though. You think the difference is the room. I think the big difference is builders and road workers are much more important and have a lot more to learn and be accountable for. They deserve the applause more than a pilot. Mostly becasue it was the engineers that did the heavy lifting when it comes to air travel.

by reed53 4 months ago

I completely agree. Don't get why people can't show decency for 5 seconds.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

At this point we should be kissing the ground the way we're going.

by nikolaustomas 4 months ago

Computers don't do the takeoff or the landing, which are the most difficult parts of any flight. I don't clap when a plane lands, but I always thank the pilot and shake his or her hand after a flight.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Computers absolutely control take off and landing.

by sydnie40 4 months ago

Ignorant statement.

by Old_Side_5089 4 months ago

Ok you cant actually be that dense to truly believe that are you?

by Anonymous 4 months ago

I have two very good friends who are pilots and they've confirmed that that's mostly accurate. Takeoff and landing are the pilots (obviously still very impressive), but the rest is computers. The pilots are there for if things go wrong and they need to takeover. The thousands of hours of training are due to the high stakes and the short time to make a decision. But for easy flights with no turbulence and no engine issues-- no point in clapping.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

In 2025 might not be a bad idea to bring it back.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Any other year I'd say it's too much. These days maybe it is worth a few cheers

by Reasonable_Air 4 months ago

Louis C.K.? Is that you?

by Anonymous 4 months ago

That's the bare minimum that people expect when they pay to fly. It wouldn't make sense to clap when you paid them to take you somewhere and they performed that service

by Admirable_Hotel 4 months ago

POV you just discovered Louis CK

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Yawn.

by OkBlacksmith5356 4 months ago

Start clapping every time your bus reaches destination and I consider clapping when plane lands

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Pretty sure birds don't have wheels. And positive planes don't lay eggs.

by Automatic-Yard 4 months ago

So out of 45,000 flights a day.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Nah dog. When using shared transport, the polite thing to do is be as unobtrusive as possible, including not making frivolous noises that draw pointless attention to yourself. Keep your voice down and your hands to yourself when you're in public

by Anonymous 4 months ago

They can't hear you through the cockpit door.

by Any_Assignment 4 months ago

If you can clap when we land, I can boo while we crash. Fair.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Don't forget to clap after your surgery. That surgeon and anesthesiologist spent a lot of time and money knocking you out just enough for someone to cut you open.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Okay, so what? We just start constantly clapping at every piece of our lives involving technology?

by Anonymous 4 months ago

You know what. You won me over. I'm still not gonna clap but I'll be less judgmental of people who do

by Alternative_Map 4 months ago

When I traveled to Russia, they would clap every time the plane landed. I took on this habit and will embarrassingly be the only one clapping now. It's such a relief to land safely.

by Quincydooley 4 months ago

If I ever get on a plane again after the way 2025 has started, sure!

by WillingnessDizzy7488 4 months ago

Last time I was in a plane where people clapped after a landing was in the 1990s, with the pilot saying over the intercom: "We just did a fully automated landing. The automatic pilot thanks you for the applause".

by Anonymous 4 months ago

We Puertoricans have been doing that for ages. As a child I was confused yet amussed. As a teenager I cringed about it. And now as an adult, I became the one that always clap when we arrive.

by Mrazedgardo 4 months ago

no

by Anonymous 4 months ago

My dad was an airline pilot and basically said it was a cultural thing. Like sister of the time Latino destinations or Asian ones clap. Which I think is nice.

by Evening_Loquat_3260 4 months ago

At some point I joined the hate train against clapping but then I realized how silly it was. Is it really that big of a deal? Who cares? I'm not gonna clap, but if you wanna clap, knock yourself out.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

I always thanks the pilots as I walk by. I think that's better than a clap.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Why I hate this. After the last few weeks I agree.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

I still usually clap, idc that other people find it annoying. I'm just glad we didn't crash. I also thank the flight attendants, and the pilot and co pilot if I can. FAs have to deal with so much bs all day/night, it's ridiculous. They should make a lot more money, and be paid for the parts of the job they have to do when they aren't flying too!

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Definitely seems like a miracle now

by Onawolff 4 months ago

I say thank-you to all flight attendants, pilots etc, as well as bus , taxi, train drivers et all I believe in being the best of humanity that you want to see, a la lead by example. We should be thanking those folks who we place our lives in their hands at the least!

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Up until the past few weeks I'd have disagreed but these days it's an applause-worthy accomplishment. ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ

by pinkietreutel 4 months ago

Israelis clap when the plane lands.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

America- we've made everything "exciting again"

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Sometimes we do

by Welchalisha 4 months ago

Like, the passengers, or do you foresee people working shifts clapping at planes at O'Hare

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Did you clap after typing this?

by Anonymous 4 months ago

In light of recent events, you should put your hands in the air and praise God that you made it safely

by Illustrious_Ant 4 months ago

I think we should clap when the flight itself was eventful of it was a flight you slept through clapping should not be a thing

by Anonymous 4 months ago

I'll clap as long as the plane is right side up....

by Anonymous 4 months ago

I paid. They are not doing me any favors. It's their job. They are also getting paid to do it. I understand the mentality, but it is a bit dorky. They are professionals doing a job, not some insecure kids seeking acceptance.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Hell naw

by Anonymous 4 months ago

You can clap of you want. I don't have to.

by Formal_Beginning 4 months ago

Do you want me to clap after turning on a computer aswell?

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Tbh as someone who knows all the physics and studied aerospace propulsion, it's still pretty miraculous. I get how it works but when I see a huge commercial jet with little wings I still can't believe it's possible. It's really crazy when u think about it

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Yeah, let's clap any time someone does their job๐Ÿ™„

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Should I be applauded for sending an email? Why clap for someone just doing their job?
