i think this is a popular opinion tbh...i remember when burnout paradise came out and me and my dad were so excited to do some racing and crashes...too bad its an open world racing game for one player and multiplayer on line

If it made sense $, they'd do it

I feel like this doesn't just apply to racing games but any games that can be multiplayer or co-op. Couch co-op really should be made an option again as with many games if you want to play with your friends the only option is own the game yourself. It also incentives not spending physical time with your friends, why go hang out with your friends in person when you can sit in the comfort of your own home and play games with them like that.

It's not always possible. Having a split screen means you need to render the same level twice, which causes double pressure on your GPU. If you ever played PS1 split screen games, you could notice that quite a lot of them cut parts of the levels significantly in multiplayer.

My young adult son keeps a WiiU in his car so that he and his friends can play MarioKart together. It's so dumb that we used to have 2-4 player games on 19" analog TV's and now that we have 65+" 4K TV's consoles don't allow multiplayer.

Mariokart is still local multiplayer on the switch. If there is one good thing about Nintendo is that they still do cool local mtiplayer games.

Split screen, in general, should be a feature in every multi-player game. Most people playing splitscreen aren't going to complain about the quality or the performance anyway.

One of the best multiplayer games is a way out. If you like multiplayer games give it a try.

and I know it's not a racing game.

by Upstairs-List-8670 4 months ago

It wouldn't affect you in any way. It's not like games have more/better features now that they've dropped local co-op

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Yeah, that's true. Maybe it would have an effect on graphics, but I'm not sure.

This is not an unpopular opinion.

"Nobody plays splitscreen anymore bro. What you don't have internet?" /s

by Marcus85 4 months ago

All racing games don't have split-screen? Why? That should definitely be a default feature.

Its not the graphics that would suffer, its the physics. You cant have that much going on, on a single screen. Physics and fps are the most important parts of racing games as well.

What about frindship?

I have no idea what friends are, sorry.

What about all the other cars being rendered that are computer controlled?

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Those cars don't get rendered or simulated at full quality when they are off screen.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

That's interesting question. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can answer, but my guess would be that they have much more basic physics. They probably ignore stuff like traction.

Every racing sim? Maybe some but most should be made for single players because that is how people play. Couch co-op is dated and dying, as it should it is boring...

Couch co-op is dated and dying, as it should it is boring... Nooooo! There needs to be more. There are only two games I've been able to get my wife to play: PlateUp! and Spacelines From the Far Out If developers could make more stuff like that, I'd be very happy.
