+49 AJR is kind of bad. amirite?

by Special_Beautiful715 3 months ago

I'm old, but ajr is pretty good

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Just look up the song, the world smallest violin

by Special_Beautiful715 3 months ago

I love that song. Its bouncy and fun and I think its creative the way the harmony transitions through the instruments.

by nashnolan 3 months ago

Almost all music is made in music programs and I don't see how their pop music isn't straight forward lol I think the unpopular opinion might be knowing who AJR is here lol cause I'm apparently in this bracket too, my favourite songs of theirs are Weak and World's Smallest Violin

by estel33 3 months ago

I'd say mine is 100 Bad Days. Personal meaning for me.

by vonruedencarlo 3 months ago

I'll give it a listen!

by estel33 3 months ago

Music programs..?

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Software that can make music without live instruments, it's the industry standard.

by estel33 3 months ago

No it's not lmao. It's used. But it's not the standard. I 100% promise you.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

I can assume you're in it then? It's definitely a industry standard even if it's not the industry standard. Plenty of people make music with programs like that, when they wouldn't otherwise.

by estel33 3 months ago

Samples is the word you're looking for. If you think that's the "industry standard" you don't deviate from NPC music.

I like some of their songs and I skip the others. There are VERY rare bands where I even like an entire album. Some of what I would consider my favorite artists have songs I have only listened to like once or twice in 20 years. FWIW the only two albums where I don't skip a single song are "American Idiot" by Green Day and "Acid Rap" by Chance the Rapper. And that is just those albums I skip a bunch from Dookie and Coloring Book.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Why does the internet hate all my favorite bands? First it was Nickelback, then Imagine Dragons, now AJR. I don't live all their songs, but overall I really like these bands, but the internet always seems to hate them.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

I like lots of underrated bands one that you should check out is called Last Dinosaurs

by Special_Beautiful715 3 months ago

I went and pulled them up. Any song suggestions?

by vonruedencarlo 3 months ago

Zoom. It's probably their best song.

by Special_Beautiful715 3 months ago

They do use real instruments. Just not in a normal way. They play instruments then use programs to turn them into wacky sounds and make beats with them. But hey ur obviously allowed to not like em. I think they're great!

by Martine89 3 months ago

I like a few of their songs, but most of their songs just feel like the singer is complaining about his life and talking about how depressed he is.

by Special_Beautiful715 3 months ago

Nah they are three brother Adam jack and Ryan who make the songs very collaboratively. Ryan wrote the lyrics for dear winter but wanted jack to perform it. And Ryan himself sings turning out pt.ii if I remember correctly. It's meant to be a wall of sound and emotion

by Martine89 3 months ago

Who cares if it's kind of. What matters is it's good enough.

by Elysekub 3 months ago

OK, yeah, fair point.

by Special_Beautiful715 3 months ago

No one knows who you're talking about.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

It is a band go look up the song world‘s smallest violin It is their most popular song.

by Special_Beautiful715 3 months ago

I know ajr and have never heard this song.... I think bang! Or weak are way more popular

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Yeah, AJR is definitely a love-it-or-hate-it kind of band. Their production is super polished but heavily reliant on digital effects and sampling, which makes it feel artificial to some people. It's like they're trying to be quirky and deep at the same time, but the emotions in their songs can feel all over the place

by russeldeven 3 months ago

Exactly. One thing I meant to mention is that there is a lot of complaining and lots of lyrics and multiple of their songs just talking about how depressed the main singer is, and about how much he needs his Therapist and it's a little annoying.

by Special_Beautiful715 3 months ago

I remember randomly finding them on YouTube a while ago, listened to a couple of their songs, then just kinda forgot they existed until just now lol. I don't listen to music very often though (like once every 3 - 4 months), so the latter tends to happen to everyone. So yeah, I guess I agree.

by Jade45 3 months ago

Way up way up we go been up and down that road.... I love AJR! Not any more confusing than listening to another favorite, Third Eye Blind: Semi-Charmed Life. So happy yet it's about overdosing on crystal meth lol.

by Complete_Equal 3 months ago

I like them too, but most of the songs just feel like it's complaining about how depressed the main singer is and all that stuff

by Special_Beautiful715 3 months ago

Meh. Most songs these days are either "my life sucks I'm sad" or "I'm a gangster and I love money." The beat is what gets me for AJR. It does remind me a lot of Third Eye Blind because it's always upbeat, and then you hear the lyrics... haha.

by Complete_Equal 3 months ago

This isn't an unpopular opinion, pretty much everyone I know thinks AJR is trash. They have a few hit songs and a lot of horrible songs.

by vicentakoepp 3 months ago

Rivers Cuomo did a song with them. He's a pretty popular guy because of Weezer.

by vonruedencarlo 3 months ago

See, I know Weezer, that's recognizable. Rivers Cuomo? Might as well be Joan Rivers son, never heard of em

by Calm_Command 3 months ago

He's the lead vocalist.

by vonruedencarlo 3 months ago

Again, proving my point, the dude with the Buddy Holly glasses from Weezer is in this other band that few people have even heard of but we're now debating. Cool lol

by Calm_Command 3 months ago

I wasn't debating you. Just giving information. :)

by vonruedencarlo 3 months ago

No way, so they're basically Taylor Swift! Crazy.

by Calm_Command 3 months ago

Just lookup the song, the world's smallest violin

by Special_Beautiful715 3 months ago

I do not mean to be rude, but don't ask me what I am talking about, just look it up their discography for yourself.

by Special_Beautiful715 3 months ago

No ❤️

by Calm_Command 3 months ago

Omg u come off so annoying.

by daryl12 3 months ago

Omg thanks pookie!

by Calm_Command 3 months ago

Grown ass mf calling me pookie.

by daryl12 3 months ago

Don't be mad my lil honeypot

by Calm_Command 3 months ago

this is not an unpopular opinion lmao

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Naw not kind of outright horrible They're everything people make fun of millenials about

by wizastefanie 3 months ago

AJR is not a millennial band. It's pretty firmly for a Gen Z audience.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

AJR are the definition of wal mart music. Like if you agree.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Saw them in concert. If you hear just one song on the radio, it's not too bad. Hear more than 2 and you realize the band is a bunch of whiney boys with the same sound to every song. Got really tiring.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Our generation's Nickelback. They are absolutely soulless and terrible

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Buddy, it's pop music for teenage girls

by stephanpagac 3 months ago

i've never met a person who likes AJR so i think ur in the wrong place

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Well, I partially like them.
