+49 Jack Black is not and has never been funny, and it's starting to show. amirite?

by Anonymous 4 months ago

He's doing family comedy now that he's older and has a family. It's also a lot more profitable than say his work with Tenacious D. It's cool if he's not your cup of tea. He seems like he could get really annoying quickly. I personally have a soft spot for him since loving his work ever since I was like 12 and I'm now 37.

by Miserable_Opinion 4 months ago

He lost me when he betrayed KG. The kids movies were bad enough. He's the edgy rebel comedian with all the edge of a spoon.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

tbh, expected jack freaking black to be an "edgy rebel" is where you went wrong

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Edgy rebel? Edgy maybe early on, but he's got the rebellious streak of like Dane Cook. He's just a goofy guy lol

by amari39 4 months ago

KG made a mistake. A little distance for a time makes sense. I'm sure it won't last forever.

by Significant_Monk1647 4 months ago

I mean aside from a few good serious roles he's had like in Peter Jackson's king Kong, none of his movies are really like life-changing to see.in school of rock he kidnappeds a whole 5fifth grade class and is rewarded with a music school at the end

by Simonisclair 4 months ago

Not a music man fan, I presume.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

KG wanted him to do that for the bands sake, theyre already reunited and playing again. But don't let that get in the way of your judgements

by Ohararenee 4 months ago

Kyle betrayed him and then he lied, tried to hide. And he died deep inside, and you know the reason why.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Yeah maybe dude should have been smart enough not to publicly say that he wished Trump had been unalived. I don't care how long you've worked with someone, when that person becomes a liability they have to go

by Anonymous 4 months ago

"It's also a lot more profitable than say his work with Tenacious D." Source on this? If so it'd be interesting that School of Rock predicted his life…

by Wintheiserbrook 4 months ago

Interesting point. Thanks!

by Wintheiserbrook 4 months ago

But on other hand Tenacious D tours are almost always sold out even in big venues. I think it's not that simple to guess what is more profitable for Jack.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Tenacious D is, was, and always will be amazing. I don't really care what else he's done in his movie career.

by ElectricalFootball 4 months ago

The Tenacious D album was just perfect when it came out, and I wished they would do something more. Maybe it's just me, but by the time Pick of Destiny came out six years later, everything that I had loved about their songs in 2000 was still there, but I just didn't like it anymore. I can still listen to Tribute and love it unironically, but The Metal is a cringefest.

by Serious_Craft6038 4 months ago

Did you like the movie at all? I do agree with you that the first album is a lot funnier than anything proceeding but still has a decent time with the second

by Necessary-Doubt-6841 4 months ago

You know, I only saw the move the one time, and I just never felt like giving it another chance. It may hit differently now.

by Serious_Craft6038 4 months ago

Kickapoo, The Metal, Dude I Totally Miss You, and Beezleboss are are classic D songs from that album. The rest are hit or miss.

by Hammesjocelyn 4 months ago

After he kicked kyle glass out of the band i lost all respect for jack.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Not really TD without him is it

by Anonymous 4 months ago

I did not know that.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Ok, calm down. We don't want any mind bullets flying around.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Saw them last year in Glasgow, they were excellent.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

What?

by Anonymous 4 months ago

No idea what ur on about.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Clearly you haven't watched School of Rock.

by Even_Attempt_4029 4 months ago

One okay movie doesn't make up for it 😆

by tillmancaterina 4 months ago

Nacho Libre?

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Tropic thunder??

by Anonymous 4 months ago

hell... even High Fidelity,

by Certain_Concert 4 months ago

Especially High Fidelity

by Liastamm 4 months ago

I know it's not pc but shalllow hal was decent even that movie is his lower end

by Anonymous 4 months ago

"one okay movie" alright so your opinion goes straight in the discard pile

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Oooooo 😂

by tillmancaterina 4 months ago

Step off!!!

by Most_Concentrate7156 4 months ago

Don't forget Shallow Hal!

by Anonymous 4 months ago

I like when JB goes for the hug with Darren after he finds out they kidnapped her, and he tosses JB over the porch railing onto the roof of Sandy's car.

by Temporary_Eye_7429 4 months ago

Saving Superman is such an underrated classic.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

I'm not necessarily a Jack Black fan, but I stand behind Nacho Libre. That movie was hilarious.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

I AM I AMMMM

by Anonymous 4 months ago

I've never found him or Tenacious D funny and I like some stupid humor. He just seems loud more than anything, like a theater kid that always needed to be the center of attention. Not my cup of tea.

by Opal76 4 months ago

I don't think it's that he's unfunny. I just think his humor is super early 2000s and feels very dated now

by Anonymous 4 months ago

My observation was of Jack Black's inability to adapt. It was not a criticism of brainrot media culture.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Generally I think he's funny. I believe that he is being cast way too often and in films he doesn't exactly fit into now.

by gislasonmonique 4 months ago

Jack shall forever be my gay guy internal psychological archetype, and favorite traveling salesman of leather pants.

by IronPublic678 4 months ago

Oh yeah, thanks. It's been too long. Must rewatch!

by IronPublic678 4 months ago

I liked some of his acting and protagonist as Eddie Rigs from brütal legend. And he's a pretty great guy. But he's not that funny anymore. Or maybe it's just me.

by Intelligent_Fill4239 4 months ago

I don't know if he is just playing a character or if this is what he's like in real life, but if this is just who he is, I cannot even imagine being in a room with him for even one hour.

by Ill_Cobbler9381 4 months ago

I think he's very one-note and I got bored of that whole style a long time ago.

by binsjanick 4 months ago

BURN THE HEATHEN!

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Uh oh, I've done it again...

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Cock pushups?

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Ones all you need

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Tenacious D will forever be awesome. Whatever else Jack does is his business. Sidenote, I like that Jack did MoCap for the Tony Hawk reboot as officer Dick!

by New-Maximum3820 4 months ago

Is comedy has been basically the same for the past 10 years But that's why I like him. He's remain very consistent with his humor style instead of constantly changing it

by Wide_Stuff 4 months ago

Agree. I might be a nerd and a dork, but his humor is a few notches dorkier than I.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

I love jack black. Funny af and one of my fave ppl ever

by Ok-Sir4692 4 months ago

He's not the best but he's not the worst. There's like a mountain of people in Hollywood less deserving than him. I'm happy for him.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

get this corn outta my face!

by Judy95 4 months ago

More funny than that trash scumbag Will Ferrell

by zackarywitting 4 months ago

Kung Fu Panda, School of Rock, Nacho Libre and Tenacious D are all masterpieces but those were all like 20 years ago and people change.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

100% can't name a single funny thing he's done.

by Conscious-Low 4 months ago

I actually used to think this but now i can tolerate him a bit better

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Him. Adam Sandler. Chris Rock.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

He's all about that paper. He will embarrass himself on camera but he'll be laughing all the way to the bank

by Kutchlauretta 4 months ago

Bro clearly has never seen School of Rock

by Low_Chemist 4 months ago

I think Jack Black was funny when I was a kid, like school of rock. Kind of the same with Adam Sandler

by Anonymous 4 months ago

He's not a lead, he's a quirky character actor sidekick.

by shadratke 4 months ago

I don't expect all comedy-centred actors to adjust with the times. That's a pretty rare quality honestly. Jack Black's comedy with Tenacious D, School of Rock, Nacho Libre, and Tropic Thunder is a kind of delivery that is pretty hit or miss for people and similar between them. He was decent in Peter Jackson's King Kong and was the only good part of the Jumanji remake as far as I'm concerned. Killed it as Bowser in the mario movie too imo. I think once he's really easy to misuse as an actor. You know what you're getting with him, so the writing will make it or break it.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Nacho Libre is such a great movie

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Ive never found him funny either. Much like Adam Sandler. very cringe

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Bravo on your brave, actually unpopular opinion. But before your render your verdict please watch this(NSFW)clip in it's entirety from many moons ago.

by OcelotLazy 4 months ago

Almost every major actor has been doing the same thing for the last 10 years. The rock, Kevin Hart, Ryan Reynolds are really the worst ones. One could argue Keanu Reeves, but he was mainly doing the John Wick series. I didn't because he threw in a Bill and Ted.

by Used_Car 4 months ago

What's the difference between an unpopular opinion and just being flat out wrong?

by heathcotezita 4 months ago

He's done so many different types of comedy, idk how you could say he's never been funny.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

I think it's more just that he has a fun personality, not necessarily that he's funny.

by Disastrous_Fan_4534 4 months ago

In his defence rotten tomatoes tend to have the Paddington bear films up there with the greatest thing to grace cinema so their opinion is worth Jack.. I mean nothing

by Cold-Throat-7119 4 months ago

He threw him under the bus? I just saw Tenacious D perform together.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Must have been early last year? KG made a joke about the Trump assassination attempt while on stage in Australia last July, and after the show JB said it was all on KG and cancelled any upcoming tour dates.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

I stand by this, but also 99% of comedy in general isn't really all that funny to me. I feel like the human race has been rehashing the same jokes for the last 50 years and it got old before I was even born.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Same thing as Will Ferrell.

by labbott 4 months ago

Kind of sounds like Adam Sandler. He was really funny back in the day. But I think he's used up all his humour and it's becoming repetitive.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

He seems to be doing a bit of a mixture of Drama and his comedy brand nowadays seems like he does a critically acclaimed drama one year and then like three bad comedy films then does another critically acclaimed drama

by Jazzlike_Yam1541 4 months ago

Adam Sandler "really funny back in the day?" Silly, but funny?

by Legitimate_Shoe 4 months ago

Nacho Libre School of Rock Kung Fu Panda Probably another I'm forgetting (besides Pick of Destiny ofc) but Jack is a legend, if you go back and don't laugh at these movies you probably take your self too seriously
