-16 Boneless wings are not nuggets, and are in fact delicious. I will die on this hill. amirite?

by Anonymous 3 months ago

So your argument isn't wing/not wing it is..nugget/not nugget? IMO- if it doesn't come off the wing of the animal, it's not a wing. the end. Call em short tendies, saucy nuggs, whatever- if it wasn't using for flappin' around, it's not a wing. the end.

by rorybradtke 3 months ago

This is the only distinction that has meaning or matters imo. If it's not a wing don't call it a wing. At least not if you care at all for accuracy. Simple enough.

by Marciamitchell 3 months ago

It's not a nugget either though and People who refuse to call them wings have no issue with misusing that word. Let's not pretend it's about accuracy.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Come up with a better word then. It's not a wing because that's the name of a specific body part, so calling it one is always going to be wrong.

by Marciamitchell 3 months ago

I'm comfortable calling them boneless wings. I haven't made "FOOD NAMES HAVE TO BE LITERAL" a core component of my personality. You're the one drawing that line in the sand and then stepping all over it.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

You sound like you're getting wound up here. Are you not doing the same thing with nugget here? I'm not going to start typing in all caps to yell my point across. Ironically your last line there actually applies better to what you're doing than me rn, but go off ig

by Marciamitchell 3 months ago

Guess I'll start calling my carbonara spaghettis then. Technically correct? Sure.

by douglasbennie 3 months ago

It wouldn't impact my day at all.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

By this definition, straight from google, they are in fact chicken nuggets "Chicken nuggets are bite-sized pieces of chicken that are seasoned, breaded, and either baked or deep-fried."

by Anonymous 3 months ago

And by this definition provided by Google they are boneless wings. "Boneless wings are bite-sized pieces of chicken breast that are breaded, fried, and sauced. " So is your source right or wrong?

by Anonymous 3 months ago

They're the same definition, hence people calling boneless wings nuggets, which OP is saying they are not

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Are they the same definition? You sure?

by Anonymous 3 months ago

So then calling them boneless wings is accurate? Right?

by Anonymous 3 months ago

"They consist of small pieces of deboned chicken meat that are breaded or battered, then deep-fried or baked. " That is the definition of a chicken nugget. It in no way suggests that it must be processed meat, shaped into a patty.

by douglasbennie 3 months ago

Popcorn chicken

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Those names don't sound right lol

by Balistreritomas 3 months ago

That's nonsense. buffalo don't even flap theirs, what would it accomplish?

by Anonymous 3 months ago

wouldn't have been as easily hunted to near extinction if they could fly, I suspect.

by rorybradtke 3 months ago

The drum is part of the wing, it does flap around.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Is from the shoulder actually. chicken wing anatomy

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Not a drumstick. The wing equivalent of the humerus bone in a person. The flat is the equivalent of the radial and ulna bones. My understanding of chicken anatomy anyway. Not a farmer.

by cartwrightalexa 3 months ago

Unless you remove the bones, which would make them boneless and is doable. it is just labour intensive. but i have made boneless chicken wings a few times.

by labernathy 3 months ago

That is labor intensive, and very uncommon, but yes, I'd agree. I think the majority of places just call fried tenders boneless wings because it is a catchy phrase. Me no like.

by Dismal_Pen_4504 3 months ago

Wings are wings and math is math

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Wings have just become synonymous with a kind of sauced bar food appetizer. Some people are out here selling cauliflower wings.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

I prefer calling them cauliflower bites because a well prepared wing is sacred to me, but that's me. For the record, I love a good cauliflower bite. I think I just appreciate all the deep fried foods. I can't think of any that I don't like: onions, cheese, cauliflower, pickles, chicken, arancini, potatoes, okra, chicken liver, eggplant, shrimp, tempura style veggies, more cheese, etc. All delicious.

by Dismal_Pen_4504 3 months ago

I remember when chicken wings were scap and given away.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Pretty much everything these days. In the 90's I used to grill skirt steaks and flat iron steaks like twice a week. Now I haven't done it in years.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

They are nuggets and they are delicious. No need to defend it.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

They aren't, though. Nuggets are from mixed grounded meat. Boneless wings are singular pieces of white meat.

by Front-Storage 3 months ago

Boneless wings are popcorn chicken

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Nothing about the definition of a nugget says they must be processed or mixed. "Chicken nuggets are bite-sized pieces of chicken that are seasoned, breaded, and either baked or deep-fried."

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Nope. I looked up multiple definitions of chicken nugget, none of them said it must be processed meat. Just a small amount of chicken meat that has been deboned, battered or breaded and fried or baked. Be it a chunk of breast or ground up lefters. It's all still a chicken nugget.

by douglasbennie 3 months ago

They're okay. They're still just processed breaded chicken bits unless you're making them yourself. I had some actual deboned chicken wings that were fantastic. They still had skin on them and everything. I do not, however, know how that feat of magic was accomplished, but they were excellent.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

You fell for a marketing gimmick.

by Beginning_Stable_682 3 months ago

I agree, this shouldn't be controversial. Nuggets = ground meat. Tenders/wings = cut meat. Plus, much of the wing mass is inedible (i.e. bone), so when you order bone-in over boneless, you're really paying more for less meat.

by Lakinadolph 3 months ago

Wings have bones.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Not if you remove them.

by labernathy 3 months ago

No. All definitions of chicken nugget online say it is just a bit of boneless chicken, battered or breaded and fried or baked. Absolutely zero requirement for it to be ground meat. It could be a chunk of chicken or a bunch of ground left overs. If it's small, boneless, breads and fried, it's a nugget. Period.

by douglasbennie 3 months ago

Boneless wings are just mini tenders, not nuggets. Put some respect on their name.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

I also like them, but they are clearly nuggets

by Sensitive-Fail-9888 3 months ago

They are, in fact, nuggets. But they are delicious.

by Smooth_Gift 3 months ago

WGAF?

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Arent mini tenders litterally just nuggets?

by Guilty_Government288 3 months ago

They are not wings either, however people who get mad that they are called such are overreacting. It would be poor marketing to call them anything else at this point.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

It's a nugget. And you're a child. And that's okay.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Since when are beaks and feet wings?

by Anonymous 3 months ago

It's not wing meat, so it's not a wing. Chicken wings, chicken nuggets, and chicken bits are different things.

by Watsicaaddison 3 months ago

They are not wings, they are mini chicken tenders, but I can see how it's easier to put them in the same section of the menu since they are using the same sauces.

by Dannie49 3 months ago

Wings aren't breaded, "boneless wings" are typically breaded and are skinless. A breaded, skinless piece of formed chicken is a nugget.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Wings can be breaded though? That's not what differentiates the two.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Chicken tenders are an actual part of the chicken. Boneless wings are basically just chunked chicken strips. To me, a boneless wing is a sauced chicken strip/nugget. If you dip it, it's a strip/nugget. If they are tossed in sauce, boneless wing.

by Specialist_Craft 3 months ago

Nuggets is about shape, not constitution. Whole meat is superior (to particle nuggets) but it's still a nugget. But boneless wings is an oxymoron and anyone who prefers nuggets to wings is a child.

by Aggressive_Care4410 3 months ago

Okay, so they're misshaped tenders then? You can have chicken nuggets that aren't processed chicken. No. A chik-fil-a nugget is not a boneless wing.

by douglasbennie 3 months ago

I love boneless wings.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

You work for big chicken

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Boneless wings are not wings but they are delicious.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

You will have to die on that hill because the angry mob of people who are right are coming for you.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Yes you are right nuggets are mechanically separated chicken that when you cut it open looks like stucko ceiling texture cause it's just bunch of tissue from chicken blended and reshaped. Boneless wings and tenders if you cut open (esp in oblique angle) are real chicken 99% muscle. You can tell by the long muscle striations (see the linear ridges)

by Anonymous 3 months ago

They are nuggets and I will still eat them

by ConsciousFrame 3 months ago

Nothing wrong with being wrong.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

This isnt really an opinion. Its a fact that "boneless wings" are just in fact breaded chicken tenderloins or breasts. You would never call them boneless wings outside of a place that has regular wings though as that is just to differentiate them from the real ones.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

People who cook understand that boneless wings aren't nuggets. They understand the different between ground and formed meat vs chunks of meat. People who don't know how to cook don't know the difference.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

I agree. Bone in are 50% bone, another 25% fat/skin, and 25% actual meat
