+32 The yolk in fried eggs is decent but definitely not "delicious", amirite?

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Why do you even eat eggs if you don't like them

by GearShoddy 2 months ago

No no I do like them, I just don't think they're especially good fried. Scrambled eggs are just better in every way

by Anonymous 2 months ago

So why not just eat scrambled eggs then, like literally no one is forcing you to eat a fried egg

by Anonymous 2 months ago

You can make different things every once in a while even if you prefer other foods. No one is eating their favorite dish every day. Plus it's a just a silly Internet opinion

by Anonymous 2 months ago

You can, in fact, eat your favorite food every day.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Or you could just eat food you enjoy. I have never chosen to make myself something I'm not going to enjoy. I've made things for the first time to try them and if I enjoy them I will continue making them, and if not I won't. It's super simple

Poached?

by GearShoddy 2 months ago

Oh man I love yolk so much. Maybe too much? If I could buy pasteurized egg yolk and just drink it like mountain dew all day I would I swear on me mum

by Dizzy_Information 2 months ago

"Egg yolk is decent" is perhaps the most down the middle take I've ever heard …. not popular, not unpopular

by rafaelkohler 2 months ago

No, there are unpopular takes, and there are eggs are fine. That's not really an opinion is it.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

As is yours, as is mine

by Glum-Possibility9110 2 months ago

Like most things, you need to season them

by Pagacdejah 2 months ago

I disagree. Yolks have amazing taste by themselves. Whites? Yea, they have zero taste. Just protein.

by Antonettapouros 2 months ago

My go to is pepper, spicy paprika and a touch of soy sauce. But what's the point of eating something when its flavor is going to get drowned out by the seasoning? Also maybe some grated parmesan

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Seasoning enhances food. The next time you have watermelon, add a little salt. Counterintuitively, the salt makes the watermelon taste sweeter.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Just don't add tons of salt. A little salt is fine, and can help you get enough iodide (depending on the kind of salt you use).

by Anonymous 2 months ago

I do season my meat and vegetables mainly, but I have a preference for letting the ingredients speak for themselves. If I'm making curry I will of course go crazy with the spices, and in the same vein I will also add salt, pepper and herbs to a roast, but a simple midday pasta only needs tomato sauce, oil, some garlic and maybe oregano or basil

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Of course I leave it runny, completely solidified, unseasoned eggs taste like farts

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Runny and completely solidified are opposites

I buy normal sized eggs from local farmers whose farms I am lucky enough to have seen myself, but I suspect my "average" size eggs might be considered small for some countries' standards. Italian btw

by Anonymous 2 months ago

I don't think the size matters, it's more the diet that dictates the flavor. Yeah, I just don't think you like em! Me? Love em.

What kind of eggs do you buy? Egg quality varies a lot, you may just be eating eggs that have more watery, yellow yolk. Have you ever tried organic eggs? There's a great company in the US called Vital Farms, and you really can taste the difference if you spend a little bit more. Sadly just one of those things.

by terrence03 2 months ago

Sounds like you need to get better eggs.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

If you don't put salt on your eggs there is no point in eating them them

by Anonymous 2 months ago

I prefer fried eggs to scrambled but only if I have potatoes. I cannot eat a fried egg unless I mix it with a bite of hash browns. If I don't have potatoes, I'd rather make scrambled or an omelette

by Qmaggio 2 months ago

You need to add some salt. It really enhances the flavor of eggs. I generally add extra to the yolks.

Eggs don't even taste the same as they did when we were growing up!!! She's right!!! Nothing does. The tasteless worms have infiltrated the farms as well, family farms or not. The chicken isn't the same..... hence the eggs.

by Substantial_Sky_6863 2 months ago

If you don't season you're eggs in any way (which is fine), I don't know if this is really an unpopular opinion? I've never heard anyone talk about plain egg yolks as an explosion of delicious flavor.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Buy better eggs.

by Hbashirian 2 months ago

Boiled egg yolk is the best kind of egg yolk. Not runny boiled, a nice full boiled egg

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Make sure you're salting them enough. I like having them with hot sauce, usually Frank's or Tabasco. You could try putting them on a breakfast sandwich, or making a sort of fritatta with cheese, tomatoes and herbs. Like many ingredients, they're good on their own but better as part of a full dish.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Yeah I agree 100%, especially with the combine the eggs with other stuff part. I was specifically referring to fried eggs eaten on their own here because I know some people eat them for breakfast, but I do agree that a nice egg adds texture and some flavor to many things,

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Throw a little holy trinity on your fried eggs (salt pepper garlic) and enjoy great tasting fried eggs.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

You probably don't season them well.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

If I get good farm eggs, man they're like 20x better. Free ranged supermarket eggs are good and a nice jump better than factory but man those direct from the farmers ones are so good. You don't even need to flavour an omelette with them.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Wow... look another "unpopular opinion" that is just a personal taste preference.
