+44 I'm a fan of interracial couples. amirite?

Being a fan of interracial couples isn't unpopular. The general atmosphere today is that people want everyone to get along so in a sense interracial couples are seen as a sign of progress in the world. Feeling uncomfortable seeing same race couples is strange, aside from it having been the norm for so long in human history, familiarity is comfortable and therefore attractive to many people.

Isn't? I mean; i personally don't care whom people date, I have never even looked it as a factor or reason to judge a relationship, but saying that you are a fan of something like seems weird and creepy to me.

Who cares who people date, as long as they are consenting adults, let them date who ever they want.

I believe there is scientific evidence that we tend to be drawn to people who resemble us. I think I saw this on a documentary once. But I don't think it's that difficult to understand. We tend to be drawn to people in the world who look like people we know too. It's a comfort thing I would imagine.

But I'm getting at I feel most comfortable around people who do not look like me, "or at least more attractive to"

Then why do they say opposites attract

Not the norm in most of the world where there is a more broad population, seems to be a USA and Asia thing, somehow, and I don't know why, there is also always pockets like that in Europe, however they mostly exist due to language (at least in Europe), for those where the language and upbringing is shared, is kind of weird. In my experience it's actually the women, that when left to their own devices and when left to their own natural drives an instincts will prefer exotic men. Men will settle more easily for just whatever is attractive, females are gatekeepers, and men do the display of traits, you can see that, in almost any species of mammal, males are more flashy; we (because we are human) think women are the prettier, but men are the flashier ones, males have facial decorations by default and more defined angles, larger muscles, stockier bodies, males stand out, and females pick based on the traits they showcase, look at male deer vs female deer and this is how an alien would see us, we just don't realize from the inside, and having say, naturally curly hair, in a world where all other males are having straight hair, calls attention. The same traits may be considered ugly of that person due to them being common wherever they came from. This makes sense because we are naturally driven to choose the different because genetically diverse kids will have less genetic defects (as they are more likely to have a backup functioning gene), on the contrary, this is why incest is disliked and leads to genetic defects. The system is of course inaccurate, it uses phenotype to rank, but phenotypes can look the same while them genotipes being different; but it's hard. As for why in some places there are less interracial couples than what should be expected by statistics, accounting for language and all where that plays a factor; it's likely culture overriding our biological basis, because that's the only explanation that can be made.

I don't care about everyone else, but my personal preference has always been that I'm not attracted to my own race, because like you said they look like they could be related to you. I don't feel the same judgement with people who date within their race though.

I want someone who is almost exactly the same as I am It comes down to preference so there isn't really any correct take on this

I get what you're saying about the fact that many couples tend to look alike (same eyes colour, hair, facial structures etc..) I noticed that as well and sometimes it's disturbing that many similarities, in the other hand I once read somewhere that people tend to search for someone that looks like them for biological reasons.

I find them disgusting.

Who is them?

by ziemannlafayett 1 month ago

The ones you like.

by Hot_Primary_2807 1 month ago

That certainly beats the reverse perspective
