Seems like this phrase is… living rent free in your head

Beat me to it lmao

I don't love I did it but it had to happen

by Vidal06 1 month ago

This really should have been expected from the beginning

Any overused phrase will be annoying

Brag? It's not a brag, but about obsession.

"Crashing out" is it for me right now. It's just the epitome of monkey see monkey do. It doesn't provoke any humorous imagery or provide any kind of slant on the phrases it is synonymous with. It is just words a streamer said or something.

It's just a way for people to think they're "owning" the other side of some dispute just because you have something to say about it.

If one enjoys the art of trolling at all, then one would appreciate such a phrase.

People who use that phrase obviously do not have the capacity to think of multiple things at once

by Anonymous 1 month ago

You've got the saying wrong its ‘they live in my head rent free'

by Elmojast 1 month ago

Yeah, exactly. It's a phrase to remind you that you don't have to think about these people. OP is totally right that being that kind of person is not something to brag about, but I've never heard anyone apply it to themselves.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Its used towards fictional characters eg- ‘Edward from Twilight lives in my head rent free (because he's hot)'

by Elmojast 1 month ago

It can be used that way but I've seen it be used the other way more often

by Anonymous 1 month ago

This isn't always a negative. It can also mean your crush is on your mind all the time. That's all the phrase really means. Someone in your mind.

by magnuslynch 1 month ago

Right, like I DO pay rent.

by Selenamacejkovi 1 month ago

Simple fix. Charge rent.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I don't think this is unpopular. Yeah, its an overused phrase that was mildly clever once. Like "Oooo thats gonna leave a mark"

by Shoddy-Confection351 1 month ago

It's supposed to be obnoxious because the people who say this phrase are obnoxious. Do you not see that they are in quotes?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Whos living in your head rent free OP?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Those emojis are petty and childish

by Forest66 1 month ago

I've seen the nails get used when people say this

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Also, what is the opposite of "rent free" in this context? Can something/someone live in my head and pay rent or something? I think, by definition, whatever is in your head, is in there rent-free.
