-27 Am I the only one who thinks Bella Ramsey is a great choice for Ellie in TLOU, amirite?

Pedro Pascal has been an American since he was a small child. He speaks with a natural Californian accent.

I just checked point taken but I guess I mean he clearly chose a voice/accent for Joel and his normal voice/accent(I feel like Tommy actors was trying to commit more to them being from Texas)slips in a few times.

A lot of people are just hung up by how little she looks like Ellie. And the ruder ones will call her ugly. I'll admit I was skeptical at first too, but I loved her in Game of Thrones, so I gave it a chance. She NAILS Ellie's personality and tone of voice, so I'm totally onboard with her as Ellie.

No I 100% agree Looks really don't mean anything in an adaptation as long as the performance is good. For example People praise Hugh Jackman's wolverine but if it was comic accurate he would be a foot shorter. I'm not saying she's perfect but I swear these people would rather have a lesser actress just so she looks more like the character.

Bella Ramsey isn't the most scary young actress ever. Let me introduce you to Lady Mormont from Game of Thrones.

Solid point.

I don't think the vast majority of the population understands what an adaptation is or the phrase "based on…" The Cowboy Bebop series got canceled because of a fandom that similarly refused to separate anime from reality.

You're not the only one. Her acting is great. I'm happy with the casting choice.

Who would have been better?

Yes you are

by Chaz77 3 months ago

Incorrect. I also think she's a great choice.

by emerson43 3 months ago

Why do you think she was a bad choice?

by Beth72 3 months ago

She looks too young for part 2 imo

by hicklejeramie 3 months ago

I also think she's a great choice, get rekt

I think she's a great actress and a great Ellie in part 1. I obviously haven't seen Season 2 yet, but she doesn't look any older tbh and Ellie is supposed to be an adult at that point so I am a bit more reserved about her casting for season 2.

Regardless of her legacy as Ellie, she will always be the perfect Hilda for me

by DifferenceFamous 3 months ago

Complainers will always complain, but I think this is a super popular opinion among normal people.

I'm 100% with you. I think she's fantastic and her looking different just doesn't matter to me at all. The only issue I do get is the age thing. Shes basically perfect in season 1, but she looks very young in all the season 2 promos for how old she's supposed to be in the second game. But who knows. I don't think the second game is great anyway, so we'll see what happens when the season comes out.

Well you can't be the only one. You've got the actress herself. Probably most of her family. At least her immediate family all thinks she is perfect for the role. Then there was like the casting director and the regular director and the producer. Probably most of the actors that work with her. Think that she is fantastic in the role. But other than that, yeah you're probably the only one who thinks she's great in the role.

She looks too young (despite her age), and doesn't have the physicality needed to be actually intimidating. She looks like a kid you beat by putting your hand on their forehead. All the swearing and edginess she could muster couldn't hide what I felt was plain to see. She's miscast.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Ellie is not intimidating in the first game. She looks like a little girl.

People are tired of their favorite works being adapted into something unrecognizable. She doesn't look like the character, she shouldn't have been casted as the character.

Yes.

Who dat?

by Anonymous 3 months ago

I don't think Pedro is a good choice either.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

I like Pedro but over all not a fan of the show the games are cool but I don't care to watch the show at all

I think, for the most part, adaptations should not be compared. As long as the show is good on its own, it doesn't matter how much it resembles the game. Case in point, everyone loves episode 103 even though it is exclusive to the show. That said, on the show's own merits, I think Bella Ramsey did only alright. I don't doubt that have the acting ability. I think they did wonderful in GoT, but their lines in LoU felt a little flat for me. Also, they have a major case of baby-face and it makes it a bit more difficult to read the level of maturity that Ellie should have.
