Fedoras are a superior hat and people should wear them again, amirite?
by benton243 months ago
This might be the most unpopular option I've ever seen here.

Of course it's a cool hat. Perry the Platypus wears one!

Yes Look at Neal Caffrey for proof

Yes. With a slim build, clean shaven, in a suit and tie that matches the color of said suit, the fedora works. Warcraft shirt with mustard stains, cargo shorts and flip flops, not so much. M'lady.

The unpopular opinion is that these are called fedoras, and what most people call fedoras are really trilbies. Sometimes they even call pork pies or stingy brims fedoras. Correct them and it doesn't go well.

I wear a wool slouch hat in the winter and get asked about my 'ferdora' all the damn time. It almost made me want to pin up one side like the Australian Army does, but that'd be ridiculous.
by Anonymous3 months ago
No. No one looks cool in them. And wearing just that instead of a jacket in the rain? Absolutely not.

i don't think even the most attractive people on the planet could pull off a fedora. theyre not cool.
by Effective_Field3 months ago
It's not even timeless. It's just dated. You'll need a full ensemble to go with that hat that just isn't what people wear anymore, and for good reason. The clothes were stuffy, overly formal, and impractical. Just like that hat.

Unless you're a slim build wearing a suit and tie, or on the golf course and it doesn't come with a free bowl of soup, rethink any fedora.

You first buddy

Fedoras look cool but they are made of wool felt, and are heavy. And bóater hats are heavy too, even though they are made of straw.

by benton243 months ago
it was a symbol of an asshole for a reason. best leave it in the past.
by Anonymous3 months ago
You can wear one if you have a matching suit and you're built. Otherwise, people won't take you seriously and will just make fun of you.
by haaghiram3 months ago
You know why people wore hats outdoors. In the country, for protection from sun and dust getting in your hair. In the city to protect your head from filth being thrown out of windows and soot getting in your hair. Why do we still need to wear hats.

Indiana Jones wore a leather fedora. But...it might be cool to revisit if hipsters in tight pants don't snap it up and ruin it.
