Thats the Job!

This is an extremely popular opinion

by Anonymous 3 months ago

His movies are pretty much shoot-em-up fast a furious. People will always see em cause they're entertaining, but repetitive.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

You just said you didn't hate him or his movies.

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Yes, that is what i said, so what are you saying?

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Exactly, i said i didn't hate him, so i still am not sure what your getting at, i am simply assuming that might be an example as to why this is a very common opinion, as i don't ever hear anyone talking about him, so to me it was 50/50 whether he is liked or not liked by anyone else, as i liked him in meg and meg 2, and as i said I didn't know this was a popular opinion because i'm simply just trying to get a good night time rant in before i go to bed to make myself feel relaxed and calm after seeing hundreds of his ads.

That's kind of the point of his movies. They aren't anything groundbreaking or trying to be something they're not, but if you want a badass action flick, he's your guy. Pretty sure he's aware of this too and just plays to his strengths regardless of if they're repetitive or not. I always appreciate him in "Crank" though simply because of how unhinged it was.

There's a comedy skit about how every Jason stathom movie he says his role..."I'm the transporter, I'm the beekeeper, it's a megalodon,I'm the contractor, furkin love it 🍻

I wish they'd make Spy 2, he was hilarious in that

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Never seen the first one, is it watchable?, as in will i enjoy it?

by Anonymous 3 months ago

I also loved Spy. It was a really fun flick.

Statham is playing his usual action self but a parody of it. One of his lines: "I'm immune to 179 different types of poison. I know because I ingested them all at once when I was deep undercover in an underground poison-ingesting crime ring."

I'll have to check it out then, cuz i do like when he is spicing it up from time to time

He is a type actor. John Wayne was a type actor. Heck many actors are type actors. Some just are, others are forced into it. They tried to force Johnny Depp into type roles after Captain Jack Sparrow. He is and was better than that. The Rock is a type actor. Ryan Reynolds is a type actor. Type actors are those actors you get to play a type. That's what they are for. Don't denigrate them for being good at what they do.

by lemkegaston 3 months ago

No I don't know. He plays a type of character. Watch a few John Wayne movies. It's the same guy in every story. Even when he plays Genghis Khan to Mcclintock to the leader of the Green Berets. The same guy. These guys have been around since the 1920s. You love them for what they are and move on. You certainly don't expect any more than what they deliver. That's for other actors to do.

So are the rock, or Tom cruise, or Harrison Ford, or like 90% of actors and actresses

by Cassinima 3 months ago

Yes and no, cuz i have seen each one of those actors and actresses(besides the rock, cuz hes in the same lot with jason) do different movies as in romance, action, horror. Like for Harrison ford he was action pact indiana jones and then later on to humble and heartfelt 'the call of the wild'. And for tom cruise yes his mission impossible movies are 90% the same, but he does his own stunts, so he spices it up enough where its counted as 'cool' imo.

Never heard of an action movie?

by Anonymous 3 months ago

I have, and plenty of action movies have actually good action, but not 'tough guy' movies, as the action is very bland and just the same as the last one, one guy against a butt load of guys and barely getting a scratch. Hell one of my favorite action movies is Predator 1987, cuz that has action and 'tough guys' all in one.

OP discovers typecasting

by Hudsonjoe 3 months ago

It seems like it would be hard to disagree with this. But that's what makes his movies so good. You know exactly what you're getting because the formula works and it never changes.

by greenjazmin 3 months ago

I'll have to check those out, and i wasn't trying to imply all of his are, just as of recently i am seeing a slow integration into copy and pasted movies of his

by Anonymous 3 months ago

Snatch was a worthy sequel of sorts, if you can call it that. when Guy Ritchie was on, he's amazing. we used to all drink and watch those movies back then!

by Puzzled-Teach 3 months ago

Well yeah. He occupies the same niche that Steven Seagal used to.
