Playboi Carti is hardly a musician. amirite?

I did a deep dive and came up with 4 great songs: Magnolia, Shooter, Wokeuplikethis*, Fell in Luv. I need to listen to his latest release but the first few songs aren't great.

The production is most of the appeal for sure, but his manic vocal cadence and strange pronunciations are an important part of it too

Call me a hater but I'd listen to the instrumentals with no vocals and enjoy it as much, if not more. Cocaine Nose being a prime example. The beat is 10/10 but Carti annoys me on that track. Shame because I really like his self titled project

I'd say the last album definitely was kinda disappointing, but his other music is generally good in what it's trying to achieve.

The only good thing he's ever done is the first album he made in 2017. And even that was sort of a "had to be there" kind of thing that didn't last that long. Couldn't imagine listening to it now.

I know his dad and he is awesome. I'm not a fan of his kids music but his dad is proud of him and his kids treats him great. So I am a fan of the person play boi carty.

If you don't like his "thing" he can be hard to get into. Even worse he dropped a few good verses (Timeless, and Rather Lie I felt were some of his best) and it turned out they were AI, so I'm kinda falling on the side of him barely qualifying more and more as time goes on. Sucks cos I love most of his albums but it seems like he doesn't care anymore

Yeah well, if he's hard to get into, that's not a good thing. That's just a way to tell me "you have to adapt to it". Music has to be easy to understand and easy to get into. If it's hard on multiple listens, that just means it's pure hot garbage.

Music doesn't have to be anything. A book that takes a lot to get into, understand, or appreciate isn't a bad book, it's just one that isn't for everyone. Same goes with music. Some music is going to be more challenging to get into, or won't work for everyone, or simply will be polarizing to different audiences. Self Titled, Die Lit and WLR were albums that clicked immediately for me, weren't hard to get into at all for me. That doesn't make them better or worse albums, just means that they clicked with me in a way that they maybe didn't with you. Media and art don't need to be accessible. Sometimes something just isn't for you and that's okay.

That's fair, but I feel like you contradict that by saying music HAS to be easy to understand and get into. Idk, the original opinion was "Playboi Carti is barely a musician" but it feels like you just think he sucks. Which is fine but disliking an artist doesn't make them less of a musician just because they aren't to your taste
