+36 Tomatoes don't belong on burgers or pizza, amirite?

by Hot-Crazy 1 month ago

Do pickles, lettuce and sauce follow the same "cold doesn't belong on a burger" logic?

by Relevant-Grocery6736 1 month ago

He's probably a warm mayonnaise on burger kinda guy 😐

by Anonymous 1 month ago

lettuce falls under this for sure, it wilts immediately and does nothing for the burger

I've never really understood tomato hate. Like I'm not sure what about them is so gross to so many people. There's just this consensus they they're "gross" and everyone just leaves it at that. So be it I guess.

well obviously tomatoes aren't making burgers more tasty, they don't have much flavor. They're more of a texture/juiciness upgrade, not a flavor upgrade. Complaining that the tomato doesn't make the burger tastier is like complaining your car doesn't feed your dog and mop the floor. Cars aren't supposed to do that.

I'm with you on tomatoes in a burger. But the right tomatoes on a pizza, hit with so.e balsamic, garlic and EVOO and you're in heaven.

Does anybody want to tell OP what pizza sauce is made from.

by Augustakreiger 1 month ago

Pizza sauce is made from tomatoes, pizza sauce is not a tomato

Technically, you're a jizzblast. Are you anti-jizz?

…what?

Is a slice of tomato then a tomato

by Powlowskicasper 1 month ago

No, that's a slice of tomato. A slice of pizza is not an entire pizza. This isn't rocket science

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Pizza sauce doesn't taste like raw tomatoes at all.

by Leannabernhard 1 month ago

It's mostly because retail tomatoes suck. They're picked green and "ripen" on the truck. They're stored in coolers to make them last longer, yet cold environments zaps the flavor from tomatoes. A quality homegrown tomato is leagues better than what you can get at the store, but it only last a couple days off the vine before it starts rotting.

by Hermanamelie 1 month ago

Exactly. The texture is nasty, the flavor is even more nasty. I've had a lot of burgers where the tomato partially ruined it. But ketchup is alright

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I agree, always take it outta the burger. I like tomato sauce on pizza but not fresh tomatoes

by Leading_Sugar 1 month ago

Saying no tomatoes on pizza is like saying no cheese on pizza.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I think OP is talking about whole or sliced tomatoes, not tomato sauce.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

sounds like he is talking about all tomatoes, but whole/sliced tomatoes in particular

by Anonymous 1 month ago

He specifically said raw tomatoes. Tomato sauce isn't raw.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

He said, "tomatoes are disgusting, particularly raw tomatoes..." That means tomatoes are disgusting, and raw tomatoes are the most disgusting of tomatoes.

Tomato sauce is not a tomato chief, stay in school

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Tbh, I prefer pesto sauce on my pizza. Though I only really like tomatoes on my pizza provided that they're cherry tomatoes.

The Temperature and Texture and Taste difference is what makes it good it gives it variance and complexity

by DentistUseful 1 month ago

I agree but I love tomato flavor so I think it's a texture thing for most people

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Yeah personally I hate whole tomatoes on burgers and pizza. Ketchup and pizza sauce are fine though.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Tomato sauce is not the same as raw tomatoes.

by Leannabernhard 1 month ago

You should learn what a margherita pizza is.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

They're a far cry from sliced raw tomatoes on pizza.

by Leannabernhard 1 month ago

I can imagine and it is just perfect

Order a happy meal then, child

A tomato slice (assuming it's not overripe) with some s&p&mayo is lovely on a burger, especially when it warms up a bit. Lettuce is the problem! It's literally only okay on a burger if it's iceberg, since it's there for crunch and not flavour. But restaurants LOOOOOOOOVE the green leaf because it looks prettier. Useless.

I dont want any veggies on my burger. The combo of those flavors is just not good to me. I like vegetables a lot and have a salad or some other kind of steamed veggies on the side with almost all my meals. I just dont want em on a burger.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Yeah, i am anti tomato, lettuce, and cheese on burgers. Dont think I have ever had raw tomato on a pizza though. Outside of the sauce, dont know why would you want extra tomato on a pizza, but thats just me

by Striking-Actuator 1 month ago

I have the same opinion about cheese. Imagine taking a bite of anything and getting a mouthful of smelly, gooey mess that overpowers every other flavour.
