This. Like, Campbell's is not it. There's a local movie theater that does meals and one is a grilled cheese made with fontina and served with tomato bisque that has a nice, fresh pesto swirl and a bit of crème fraîche. Good stuff.

Started making my own roasted tomato soup last year and won't go back to canned. Roasting a bunch of tomatoes, peppers, onions and garlic than blending with spices. Game changer. Campbells is sludge.

add some worcestershire, or perhaps soy, sauce, adequate salt & pepper, maybe some cream. You can do a lot w/ tomato soup, but you have to like tomato, essentially. If not, don't f'ing eat tomato soup. tomato bisque is awesome, too.

It's this type of nonsense that tears apart families and starts wars. I suppose next you will say ramen and Mac and cheese are not pasta. Broke food was made to be elevated. Disappointing marinara? What did you do to it? Did you even add garlic or basil? Let me guess Kraft singles on white bread. Three things I have learned in this world about dinner time. I grew up eating Campbell's tomato soup and that's the flavor that lives in my mind. I think I'd still enjoy it, though it's been years. I don't think I would enjoy a different brand. There are plenty of better soups I would go for instead.

Agreed. Tomato soup is nothing but hot V8 juice, which doesn't make either of those products any better. My unpopular opinion is that tomatoes are simply not meant to be eaten on their own nor eaten as the major component of the meal. Tomatoes in a chili? Very good, Tomato soup? Not good. Sliced tomato on a turkey sandwich? Great! Sliced tomato between two pieces of bread? Not great, go get some more ingredients and we can talk.
