-40 Men who wear cologne smell worse than men who simply stink, amirite?

by Separate-Pie-8092 1 month ago

I think that's the issue of overspraying.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Definitely. My ex did this. I tried to persuade him that he only needed a couple sprays, but every time he drenched himself in cologne. It was nasty. Why do guys do this?

by Neat-Dinner-3831 1 month ago

Its not a guy thing but a "i want people to notice me" thing. Ive absolutely walked behind women who absolutely reeked of vanilla and cherry blossom. Cologne should be discovered, not announced. If i can smell it from more than a meter away its WAY too much

by Active-Cut-1434 1 month ago

One on the neck, and one on the wrist and rub the other with it.

by True_Celebration 1 month ago

Yep, this is the "bad toupees phenomenon". It's not that all cologne is bad, it's just that you only notice it when it's bad.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

If all the men you come across are over spraying cheap perfume to the point it disgusts you, then maybe it might just be your circle/area.

by Due-Document 1 month ago

You mean the class of people op associates with?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I feel like this is likely more specific to areas/groups that hang out a lot than it is overarching rules for different social classes

by Neat-Dinner-3831 1 month ago

Overspraying is a bigger issue than the actual smell or the price of the fragrance

by FriendshipUsed 1 month ago

I would also add that most of the popular scents have the same off putting synthetic smell.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Likely also spraying it on them self's instead of spiritizing the air in front of them and walking through it.

by Kennethdibbert 1 month ago

That's the exact opposite of what you're supposed to do

by hodkiewiczlesli 1 month ago

You're supposed to spray it on you lmao.

by Willing-Garlic 1 month ago

This has nothing to do with men. Plenty of women and men around me overspray. I hate cologne and perfume but I don't mind it as long as it's faint. It's still crazy how people prefer sweaty onions over strong chemical smell. It's one thing to dislike overspray but saying you prefer stink? Can't really talk now can you? At least one group cares enough to not go out smelly.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Most guys I've dated have had this issue. I can't think of one woman who oversprays her perfume. I feel like this like varies by area

by Neat-Dinner-3831 1 month ago

Have you never lived in a major city? There's always women with oversprayed fragrences.... And don't get me started on the old people...

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I feel this. A few days ago, I was sitting 5 feet away from a man bathing himself with body spray. He started by spraying his feet (never seen anyone do this before), then his pants, then his shirt. He sprayed over and over and at one point I counted 27 consecutive sprays within 1 minute. He had 6 separate spray sprees like that over the course of an hour. Must have been around 100 sprays, and I am in no way exaggerating. He would rub his armpits with his hand, smell it, then spray some more. Then he took off his hat and sprayed some more. Then he took off his shoes and sprayed some more. Absolutely wild behavior, especially considering it was in a public closed room with ~40 people who would have to sit there for an hour. Gratefully, this was the only such experience I've ever had, but I was stink eyeing him the entire time.

Just use deodorant Henry

by Andywunsch 1 month ago

This had me rolling for some reason. It got so personal so quickly. 🤣

by Far-Gear-4147 1 month ago

We'd all prefer neither.

by Majestic_Elevator372 1 month ago

If you're using it to cover up a sweat smell, there's still a funk

by heaven14 1 month ago

Just wash Henry.

by Leather-Mission 1 month ago

Just a slight amount of high quality cologne is lovely.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Agreed. I have a heightened sense of smell, and just a tiny amount of something good drives me crazy.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Cheap cologne or over spraying deodorant are worse than stink.

by Choice_Essay_1815 1 month ago

Depends on the deodorant. A lot of mens deodorants are over scented but you can get more neutral ones

by Neat-Dinner-3831 1 month ago

If your complaint is cheap cologne I wouldn't say this is unpopular at all, as that stuff is on the same level as windex

by Anonymous 1 month ago

There are alot of high end fragrances that's going to kill a room. People don't want to smell a barnyard oud

by FriendshipUsed 1 month ago

I feel the same about most women with perfume

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Haha, I love this. I hate cologne. It's like scented trash bags. Trash smells better than trash in a lavender scented trash bag.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Worse? Idk. Head to head for #1? Yes. Its like cig smoke - itll be in your clothes though you dont smoke/wear scents

by Anonymous 1 month ago

This is not just a men thing. Women do this year round too!

by Anonymous 1 month ago

If you think men didn't wear cologne in the winter then I'm not sure what MEN you're around. Cologne on its own should be succinct. Barely noticeable unless you're very close. I suggest all other women and men who read this and questioned their scent around others to go look into how your perfumes and colognes should smell to other people. Seriously. We shouldn't be smelling each other from that far away. And that goes for those who stink in a bad way too lol.

by Majestic_Elevator372 1 month ago

A fragrance should be discoved, not announced.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

God I hate perfume and cologne and aftershave Please just wash yourself and your clothes Please don't give me an asthma attack because you're afraid

by miles70 1 month ago

I had a teacher in high school who had a no perfume rule because she said she is extremely allergic to it. Some idiot decided to be selfish one day and spritz it, and low and behold our teacher's voiced dropped a couple octaves and she had to take the rest of the day off from school. I don't even think they sprayed that much, but it was enough to cause an issue. Isn't the cologne/perfume rule just to do a spray on one wrist, rub the wrists together, and then dab the wrists on the neck? The only people I know who smell good with fragrances are the people who follow the one-spray rule. This method works because you're putting the fragrance on the parts of your body that have the most blood that's also not under clothes. Having it on the neck and wrists helps spread the scent in a good, sensible way. Also, it helps save money on fragrances.

by Far-Gear-4147 1 month ago

Yeah people's noses get used to it so they think they can't smell it so overspray so more

by miles70 1 month ago

As opposed to... ppl who wear cologne to stay home?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I disagree with this wholeheartedly lol. I have been around someone that smells awful. Think of ass, sweat and dragon breath. The person in question just lets their natural stank be everywhere.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

OP is in your DMs now huh

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Lmao no they aren't

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I only smell someone wearing it once in a blue moon now thankfully but it's always just so overpowering and terrible when they do. Most places don't even allow it anymore and are scent free.

by Jovany71 1 month ago

I love how most symphonies have a no-scent rule for the performers because we're so tightly packed onstage. You best believe [most of us] bathe, wash our clothes, and wear deodorant. There're also generally no problems if you complain about someone's scent onstage, as it is commonly understood to respect everyone else. I wish this could be everywhere lmao.

by Far-Gear-4147 1 month ago

A lot "manly scents" are awful.

by Schoenandre 1 month ago

Cheap? I'm offended.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

No way I smell like red roses and it's amazing.

by OkIncome 1 month ago

I hate it when it lingers in the air or you can taste it. I've worked in restaurants for years and I've actually had to politely ask guests to leave for wearing heavy perfume or cologne. Personally, I can't breathe around that much heaviness and heavy application. I choke and cough and my eyes and mouth water. I use unscented deodorant (not antiperspirant) and swipe a little solid cologne in the pits and around my neck and clavicle. You only smell the scent if you're very close. Took me years to learn. The absolute worst is geranium scented anything. The flower is fine. Smelling like a funeral home is not.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

If you settle for people that stink you already have no say in how much cologne people wear. Most people disagree with you if you haven't noticed.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I've been wearing cologne daily for over 30 years. I don't care what you're wearing, you only ever need one spray.

by NoCamera 1 month ago

I feel the same way about women. I find women's perfume totally off-putting. their natural smell I love, but the perfume makes me want to gag. I have to ask girls I'm dating not to wear it (nicely of course).

by Roxane20 1 month ago

It's usually the problem that people love to overspray it or that they cover their stench with it

by wendyoconner 1 month ago

Cologne is still better than super scented laundry detergent. Gag.

It's them bath and body works body spray specials that women get, and truly believe they can mix 3 different ones together like a cocktail or something 😂😂

by Anonymous 1 month ago

by TopQuestion410 1 month ago

Dude. Not true. There is a difference between bad smell and disgusting higeine

by Anonymous 1 month ago

by Kadenmetz 1 month ago

Are you saying that axe is not for gentlemen? Pish posh peasant! /S

by Majestic_Elevator372 1 month ago

I think if you overspray a good cologne it turns bad. Overpowering scents are unpleasant

by Neat-Dinner-3831 1 month ago

I agree with this!

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I'd rather smell thick cologne over a guy's BO

by Jesuskuhic 1 month ago

Move to India then

by Anonymous 1 month ago

What are you trying to say?

by Neat-Dinner-3831 1 month ago

😂😂

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Id rather smell the leather coated person than the dude with 3 day old ball sweat stinking up the place. I really dislike cologne. Any cologne. I find the smell sickly, but BO is worse.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Yeah hi I regularly forget to put on Deo or cologne. I wish i would not but that is the 10 Minute to get ready morning routine for you.

by hanekatrine 1 month ago

disagree i love cologne even the axe manly spray ones. like when a man walks by wearing cologne i sniff that its like crack. your opinion is totally valid though, especially if it gives you a headache. VETO on stinky men they make me want to perish

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I will take a guy who takes time to make sure he smells good than a guy with bad hygiene. if you haven't smelt a high end niche perfume that's a different story…

by Anonymous 1 month ago

A good cologne applied in the right amount is definitely not worse than someone's nasty bo, that's ridiculous

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Hmm smell heavy drakkar noir or BO.... I'll pick the noir. There was a dude at my gym that was a walking pepe la pew

by BalanceOriginal6932 1 month ago

You spend to much time near gross men. Men who understand hygiene smell amazing in their cologne.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

by Anonymous 1 month ago
