+31 People saying money doesn't bring happiness, that's a lie, amirite?

by Fantastic-Cable 1 month ago

Nothing brings happiness. The only certainty is decay. But money fends off a lot of the bad stuff.

by Interesting_Term_38 1 month ago

This is the real unpopular opinion

Not if you're a philosophy grad

Forgot who said it but i heard it be said before "money doesn't buy happiness but everyone would love to find out for themselves".

Money buys security and without the security of stable housing, food, and other necessities of life, it's a hell of a lot harder to be happy. I've always said that anyone who believe money doesn't buy happiness has never lived in poverty

by Anonymous 1 month ago

It doesn't but I'd rather cry in my own home

by Anonymous 1 month ago

More like money makes your life easier, but you can also easily lose them if not careful with managing them.

by molliehilpert 1 month ago

The only people who say money doesnt bring happiness are people who have had money their whole life and have never gone without having alot of money.

Money buys many cures for sadness.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

This is the proper response to this misunderstanding

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I agree, cause like of course your still going to be depressed and have bad feelings but I feel like the main reason why people are unhappy is because they have money problems and that makes them stressed out and worry and have those bad feelings. Like if you have money you don't have to worry and you can just relax in life. And go on vacations and give your family a good life.

It makes life sooooo much easier

Mae West once said, "I have been rich, I have been poor; rich is better". Frankly, she's not wrong.

by Training_Natural3454 1 month ago

Money doesn't buy happiness. Not having enough money to be stable brings stress and depression. Your friends, your hobbies, your love, your family. Those are what bring happiness.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Money does buy happiness though, because you're generally going to be happier knowing that you're no longer worrying about bills and such. You're less stressed for example and that is a big happiness booster.

But I have a 12 bedroom sprawling mansion and an indoor pool and a $3000 haircut and I'm unhappy :)

by Afraid_Collection 1 month ago

I don't know if it buys happiness, but I'd definitely rather cry in a Ferrari.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Money can't buy happiness, it buys security. Happiness comes from within. You can buy all the things you think you want in the world, and still be miserable.

by Deron73 1 month ago

You can throw money at a lot of problems so yeah it does.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

You're half-right. The point of the expression is that money won't buy you things like a partner that actually loves you, kids that don't hate you. It won't actually fill the empty void in your chest that yearns for meaning. Also, the endless pursuit of money can mean you miss the good stuff. But money sure can make things easier and more enjoyable.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

The way I see it, money doesn't buy happiness, but not having enough money can cause anxiety and depression. A person can have all the money in the world and still be a miserable person, but even the most good natured person is going to struggle to smile when they risk their lights getting shut off.

I just think of the biggest problems in my life right now and asked "could this be fixed with money?" and I concluded no.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I'm willing to conduct an experiment. Everyone! Give me your money! I will find out if this is true or not.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

It can help a lot for sure. Money can bring satisfaction, options., and sometimes status. But it can't bring meaning, not deep meaning.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

It all depends what your definition of happiness is. For some people, money doesn't equal happiness in a sense that they've found peace with their lives, jobs and way of living. Would it be cool to have more money? Sure, but for some people it wouldn't change how internally happy they are with themselves and their lives.

Would you be more happy sitting in a Ferrari or on a rusty bike in the rain?

by Wooden-Body-1681 1 month ago

I don't want fancy cars, they are just a stupid way to show off. I prefer a nice house with a big garden and room for a big family.

Money brings happiness but not love

by Such-Falcon 1 month ago

Of course, love is a different thing, it's about sharing giving offering, sacrificing one self for another, helping, aiding, about emotions and feelings about characters.

by Marquardthelen 1 month ago

True. No arguements.

by Pretty-Mud 1 month ago

Money buys free time and less stress which are conducive to happiness. Yet there are plenty of miserable rich people and happy poor people. Point of the phrase is that you have to decide to have a positive attitude with your circumstances no matter what.

by Jillianromaguer 1 month ago

Money takes away a lot of the pain life has. It doesn't bring happiness, it fends off the anxiety, pain, and horrors or not having money.

by Ok-Layer 1 month ago

I have been a poor man and I have now gotten to a point in my life where money is not an issue. I have a good career. I have a great partner and we have bought a house. The darkest period of my life came when I had more cash than I needed. So no money doesn't bring happiness.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Agree. It's what people say who have no money and/or no hope of ever having money.
