Perhaps if we added tobacco to our list of prohibitions it will simply vanish the way recreational drugs did in the 1980s.

We already HAVE total anarchy. Look at San Francisco, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and many other major cities. They have obscenely terrible rates of drug use, homelessness and crime as well as blatant open air drug markets in areas that are essentially drug/crime/ homeless neighborhoods. Prohibition has CAUSED this anarchy.

point taken. deciding where to draw the line when it comes to lawmaking is difficult, and ultimately somewhat arbitrary. I personally would never smoke since I see it as a pointless health risk. but I also don't care if someone else wants to live their life that way. I certainly wouldn't want them sent to prison.

If/when we have universal healthcare a lot of people are going to start asking for bans on things that are inherently unhealthy to cut down on the taxes necessary to support the system. If I recall correctly, the vast majority of hospital patients are a very few number of people who are constantly in and out (related to chronic illnesses).

We already do that here in Europe, one of the questions is if you smoke and you'll have to pay extra out of your pocket for the basic package when one does. But yeah I agree with that, we do cost more for healthcare so yeah we should pay more.

The government shouldn't have any say about what plants people choose to consume. You being this irrationally upset about someone else's personal freedom is pretty strange as well. The littering is bad and the smoke isn't healthy for people around so it shouldn't be legal in busy public areas. You should address the person or people in your life who are constantly forcing you to smell it
