Imagine owning a husky in Arizona or Nevada why torture the animal

Yes, this is an unpopular opinion because it's not an opinion it is a judgement. I used to rescue and train dogs from high kill shelters. I placed 13 of them. People are usually doing their best with their dogs and it's better than them being killed by the thousands a day.

Most people are lazy, ineffective pet owners. Most dogs are mannerless and unhappy.

Absolutely agree with you. I used to work in a boarding kennels, so I was with other people's dogs on a daily basis. I can't begin to explain how incredibly untrained so many dogs were. And many of them were intelligent breeds, so there were no excuses. One of the first things I did was train the dogs myself, to not pull on their leads and to wait patiently for the door to open, instead of barging through. They all learned so fast, so it was obvious the owners never even tried. My goodness, these simple things can make your life with them so much easier. There was only one dog i could not train, no matter how much i tried. But all the others got it really fast. Also, if we were very booked up, I would explain to the owners that the dogs would only get walked for 10 minutes twice a day. Not enough for many of the dogs, but I wasn't going to lie. And many of their responses were "wow! That's so much! Fantastic!". Wtf, no it isn't. It is nowhere near enough. It was just sad. Needless to say, I only stayed there a year before finding another job. Loved the dogs, but I hated the product of people's stupidity.

You should just get a cat

Way too many people think others should care about their personal views

I had a dog for 14 1/2 years. A big dog. In an apartment. Everyone said I needed a backyard. But people with a backyard don't exercise their pet, they just let them out to roam the yard. I took her on many walks every day, some for 45 minutes or longer, and took her to the park to run after ball. Something she wasn't even fond of. She had an awesome life. Now I'm disabled and can't walk far so I stick with cats.

that's very considerate of you. Most people think it's their right to own whatever animal they want regardless of what they're capable of providing. If you ever get the itch for a pupper you should look in to adopting a senior dog.

I agree, as a dog owner. I love my dog and I really try to fulfill her life, but I still don't feel like I do enough. I think she deserves hikes everyday, and all I'm capable of is walking her around my city. It gives me a lot of guilt. (I was given my dog as a gift by an irresponsible adult when I was really young- I wouldn't elect to own a dog at this point in my life, it wasn't up to me).

2 collies, no fenced back garden. Normally we aim for 3 big walks a week (thats 7km in forests, swimming in the sea/lake, taking a train to another city for an explore etc). Then we do 3 rest days. As we don't have a yard they get a MINIMUM of 4 20mins walks these days. These are sniffy walks where we go at their pace and they can sniff everything. Final day we meet with family in their garden and all the dogs play together. The thing is you can never tire a young healthy collie. There is no point trying. All you do is make a super athlete wanting more and more exercise. Too many people think you need to run them for hours and never teach them to settle and relax. In pet homes the key is mental stimulation. Sniffy walks, training, playing and puzzle games etc. My pup is 9months old and not so much as a chewed shoe because his needs are met.

I've said this for years. Watching our neighbor's Malamute mix be stuck in a 18× 9 cyclone fence never leave it. All the did is feed that dog scraps and only get him groomed when the fur was so matted that all the dog did was howl because it was in pain. Can't call the SPCA or animal protection service out in the swamp in Virginia. I was actually relived when that dog died. At least his suffering ended.

It's not dog hate, it's hatred of owners who do not appropriately take care of their dog or who owns a dog that is ill suited for their habits/environment

Most people don't own dogs.

husky is funny breed i dont mind people have husky

They're "funny" because they're anxious energetic wrecks. Just because they're a beautiful breed doesn't mean they deserve to live in a small apartment.
