-25 Gas should only be pumped on the side your cap is on, amirite?

by Particular_Jump405 1 month ago

Is this an unpopular opinion? I almost never see anyone pumping gas the other way.

by Acceptable-Dress1644 1 month ago

I've only seen it qt Costco or Sam's. Their gas is always 5 to 10 cents cheaper than other gas stations, so they back up all the time. However, their hoses are longer at Cotsco. I know for sure I can't remember if Sams are. So know Costo expects for people to do this and have longer hose for that reason.

I've only ever seen idiots on social media pump from the wrong side. And no, this isn't an unpopular opinion because that's how it supposed to be done. That's why there is an arrow next to the image of your gas tank in the dashboard. OP, if anyone tells you differently, they are an idiot and you should not trust them with big life decisions or your children.

That's why there is an arrow next to the image of your gas tank in the dashboard What car do you drive? I've never seen that on any vehicle I owned.

Pumping from the other side is actually smart when the near side is backed up, and it is one way in places like Costco. It is only idiotic when you can turn the car facing the other way and have the pump near the gas cap.

Costco gas pumps are designed with long hoses to allow you to fuel your car from either side. The employees actually encourage this to keep the lines moving.

by Sanfordbarton 1 month ago

The attendant at my local Costco will almost force you into any lane to keep things moving. They do not want you to care about what side your tank is on.

by brakusmicah 1 month ago

Exactly. Costco is one way in, one way out. Some lines will be shorter, so if you have to gas up on the other side, do it. It's meant to stretch that far.

Uhm…no? I constantly see a line of cars for the "on the left" side and 0 cars for the on the right. I'm gonna go on the right and pump my gas on the other side. They designed the pumps to work that way. You're welcome for not being in line and wasting your time. And there's plenty of space.

by Kundehosea 1 month ago

Why?

by Responsible_Bit 1 month ago

I am truly sorry that you have to wait in line because you are unable to pull the fuel hose. You must be devastated.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Pumps are generally designed so you can do either. If there's a queue for left pumps but not for the right, I'm going right, regardless of what side my fuel cap is on.

by macejkovicmurra 1 month ago

This is just a psa that you can't drive. Costco bays are huge.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

At places like Costco, where it's 1 way in, then you're wrong. At a normal gas station, I'll agree

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Sam's club has one way lanes and extra long hoses, this is intended.

by Interesting_Till 1 month ago

BJs here, they encourage you to pull into any pump, regardless what side your capable on. The hoses are long enough to reach over comfortably

So I'm supposed to sit in line for 10 minutes waiting to get to a pump that lines yup to the "correct" side of my car? No thanks! Most of those stations have an equal number of pumps for car gas fill inlets on either side of the car. But almost 80% of cars sold in the U.S. have the fill inlet on the driver's side. If everyone did as you suggest about 40% of the available pumps would be unused all the time. I suspect you have a car with the fill inlet on the passenger side and just don't want to have to wait at all.

by Successful-Cat4482 1 month ago

It's designed to be done on either side at Costco and Safeway , but most places it's not a good idea

by Anonymous 1 month ago

My gas cap is on the opposite anyway so I cheat the system 😈😈😈

by Anonymous 1 month ago

This is just common sense and safety, not an opinion

by hallie30 1 month ago

Is it even possible to do this the other way? I've never seen that!

by Molliekeebler 1 month ago

This isn't unpopular

by Anonymous 1 month ago

All filler tubes should be on the same side of the vehicle
