user error

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I have never experienced any of these problems. Perhaps your pouring/handling/drinking technique needs work?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

It's just with coffee mugs. Other glassware is perfectly functional from my experience. Maybe it's the shape of a standard coffee mug?

by RepulsiveDog 1 month ago

Pour mug into measuring cup, take note of measurement, use measuring cup going forward. Don't be dumb.

by Connerprohaska 1 month ago

Yeah these arent regular issues...

by Own-Mall 1 month ago

Do you have Parkinson's or something? It's not hard to use a coffee mug without spilling unless you've got some issues you aren't telling us. Spilling while pouring into the Keurig is wild..

by Anonymous 1 month ago

No, it's only with coffee mugs. The liquid runs down the side of the cup instead of just out in the direction you're pouring. I don't have this issue with any other type of glass cup. It's only with mugs.

Skills issue

I can empathise mate, when pouring from a coffee mug into something else 6/10 I'm getting backspill down my leg or whatever

by Pretty-Fun 1 month ago

THANK YOU. I can't understand why everyone else pretends this isn't a thing.

by RepulsiveDog 1 month ago

Coffee mugs are associated with comfort and people don't like having flaws in their comforts pointed out I suppose

by Pretty-Fun 1 month ago

Ugh, didn't want to get into personal details but I moved ≈2 weeks ago and have limited dishware. I have like 5 coffee cups and haven't gotten around to getting a measuring cup yet. Hope this helps clear some stuff up. I'm working with what I have at the moment. I used to use a measuring cup to pour the coffee into the mug, but the measuring cup was my former roommate's, so I didn't take it with me for obvious reasons.

Thrift shops are your friend for random cheap kitchenware.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

A coffee mug wasn't designed to pour. It's designed to drink from. Use something different to pour

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Bro how are you using a coffee mug none of this makes any sense

by Anonymous 1 month ago

For coffee after breakfast. To drink liquid out of. What kind of stupid ass question is this?

by RepulsiveDog 1 month ago

Hes talking about your usage of pouring out of it and drinking smart-ass.

by OnlyHuckleberry 1 month ago

Yeah we can see that. We just don't understand how you suck so much at using a mug.

by OnlyHuckleberry 1 month ago

Ive used plenty of Keurigs and not a single one has needed the exact correct amount of water, they all only dispense 6-8 ounces at once in the first place. Thats the whole point of a Keurig. You're making it more difficult for yourself. You can fill the water tank completely.

by EducationalMall 1 month ago

Mine is a smaller version I guess, because whatever you put in the tank gets used, all of it. So if I put too much in it can overflow a mug if I'm using a smaller mug. Luckily I have a few larger ones that can hold more than the capacity of the keurig.

by RepulsiveDog 1 month ago

Fair enough. Ive seen a few teeny tiny off brand single serve coffee makers like that.

by EducationalMall 1 month ago

Sure maybe mugs aren't explicitly made for pouring, but neither are most other cups (of which don't have the same issue). I feel like you should be able to pour liquid out of a cup, because… it's a cup. Also, you surely could've come up with a better example than the butter knife one. It's so obviously not the same thing.

by RepulsiveDog 1 month ago

This sounds like a skill issue I've drank out of thousands of mugs and somehow don't spill all over the place when I do it Maybe see a dentist about that overbite

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I don't have an overbite

by RepulsiveDog 1 month ago

X-rays or GTFO

by Anonymous 1 month ago

He could show us someone else's xray. I want his dentist to come here to answer.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

My keurig unfortunately has only one button. I'll give that a shot though, it'll be worth not having to deal with the issues of a mug on a daily basis.

by RepulsiveDog 1 month ago

Are you perhaps forgetting to swallow before removing the cup from your lips? This doesn't seem like a common problem so definitely an unpopular opinion.

by Deron65 1 month ago

Sorry OP. I believe this is a heck of a lot of user error. Sorry if there is another reason you may be struggling with these issues.

by cletafunk 1 month ago

lol. I get what you're talking about. I don't hate mugs but I also think many of them are too thick around the sides so it feels weird to dip out of them because I feel like I'm opening my mouth too much and then there's drops down the side again

by Natural-Reading-503 1 month ago

Sounds like a skill issue tbh

by Vivienne69 1 month ago

Why not just measure the capacity of your smallest mug(s) once, and then you'll know if they're large enough for the brew you want to make? I believe the biggest brew size on a Keurig (excluding the carafe) is 12 oz. Most mugs can easily hold that, unless you're using mugs for espresso.

by Bert57 1 month ago

If you only buy mugs with fun stuff on them theres a really good chance you only have mugs with fat brims that are hard to pour from.

by EducationalMall 1 month ago

I think I understand what you mean. I usually can only taking a few sips of coffee out of a mug at a time before it starts spilling out. I have no idea how to adjust how I drink out of a mug to prevent this from happening. However, I usually have this problem with any cup that requires drinking from the rim rather than a straw or a cup with a lid that has a hole in it to drink out of.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

How are you making a mess with every sip, but only with coffee mugs? Are you only using child size cups or champagne flutes or something? Also, find out how much liquid each mug holds then use that knowledge, either memorized or written down, to then use a measuring cup to successfully pour water into the keurig. Plus, this only seems like an unpopular opinion to you because literally no one that doesnt have a neurological disorder suffers from these issues, so no one thinks mugs are inefficient like you do

by Quirky-Rush 1 month ago

I think this is because you are using a coffee machine, it's not just the amount of water you are using but you have to get the positioning of the cup exactly right in the machine to avoid that annoying little drip that goes over the side of the rim. It's not as glamorous, and it's certainly not barista level, but I bet you wouldn't have these issues if you made your coffee in the mug using a kettle. The mug itself shouldn't be causing you these problems.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

If you are having this much trouble, you should use a measuring cup to pour your water in since it has that little spout.

Uh. You seriously have these problems? Has it occurred to you that maybe it's you? I don't have any of these issues.

by mariam77 1 month ago

I've been drinking coffee for decades and never had a bit of trouble.

Eyespop… more like EyesPOOP. Hehe

by RepulsiveDog 1 month ago

For a guy who seems unable to master the simple task of drinking coffee, that was pretty good. Bravo.

by Legitimate-Slide-945 1 month ago

Are you making sure the open end of the mug is facing up?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Honestly skill issue
