People who maintain the speed limit should not hog the fast lane. amirite?
by Anonymous1 month ago
It's called the passing lane not the fast lane
by Srowe1 month ago
Not in California it's not.

Thank you! The smug look a driver has, when the 6th car they slowed down, has passed them.... Beer me strength.

Hmm, if there are many tractor trailers on the road does that change things? Because they have to go slow to be safe.

I think op is talking about the passing lane, which trucks don't hog
by Anonymous1 month ago
Stay on the slow lane. Use the fastest lane to overtake. Or like others mention, the "passing lane" should be used to pass and then get back on the slower lane. Not to park your slow car on it.
by Anonymous1 month ago
So go less than the speed limit?
by Albertotowne1 month ago
No such thing as a "fast lane" it's called passing lane.
by Emotional_Look1 month ago
So then use it for passing. Not for staying and remaining. After you pass, you shouldn't need to stay on it, so someone faster than you can use it
by Anonymous1 month ago
And if someone is driving the speed limit while passing a line of trucks? They have just as much right to that lane as everyone else. Your desire to go fast does not give you the right of way.

Completely agree. But as people mentioned, its called the passing lane. So after you finish passing, get back on the slower lane. The example I provided was there were no other vehicles near them, but these rockstars will just be the only one on the fast lane.. The only way to overtake them, is to use the slower lane.

i think its fine to stay in the passing lane.

I hate you, internet stranger
by Anonymous1 month ago
(AND not while I am driving)! yeah sure :)

Kids, always follow traffic rules
by Anonymous1 month ago
you meant Laws?
by Anonymous1 month ago
A rose by any other name still has thorns
by Anonymous1 month ago
This is literally the law in most countries. It's not an unpopular opinion.
by Anonymous1 month ago
Are you saying you have never seen this in your country? In any of your car drives?
by Anonymous1 month ago
I've definitely seen it, but the idea that it's wrong and should be avoided is an extremely popular opinion.
by Anonymous1 month ago
Yes, I got that from some of the replies here. Just that I saw so many cars, I felt it was unpopular.
by Anonymous1 month ago
You aren't supposed to exceed the speed limit even to pass someone, so no problem.
by Anonymous1 month ago
This isn't an unpopular opinion. You're just uninformed.
by Anonymous1 month ago
Ok. Thanks.
by Anonymous1 month ago
if you want to go at the speed limit, then thats fine.
by Anonymous1 month ago
Yes. Absolutely. I stated that, too. Just dont hog the passing lane.
by Anonymous1 month ago
Oh good then. I am glad. My two hour car ride had over a dozen of these "geniuses", with their smug look.
by Anonymous1 month ago
So you can imagine my frustration... Just using this forum to vent.
by Anonymous1 month ago
This exact point comes up virtually any time driving is discussed. We get it already.
by Anonymous1 month ago
I agree. It's the passing lane. It's not anyone's job to stay there and play police unless they actually are police.
