I don't understand the appeal of tomato soup and grilled cheese, amirite?
by StrategyThin1 month ago
And I respect that

Do you know that when cooking you can, like, adjust the taste to fit your palette? And being too sweet is like the easiest adjustment one could make, even after the soup has already been served some pepper should work just fine.

Yes, I cook a lot and am extremely experienced. But my issue is those who think grilled cheese and tomato soup out of the can are the bomb. I will probably experiment with different spices and can add flavor to the original soup.

I think people know what I mean when I say tomato soup.
by StrategyThin1 month ago
Canned soup tastes like the can, especially tomato soup.
by FirstAd38571 month ago
Yes, and that's what most people eat.
by StrategyThin1 month ago
It's literally just pizza. Proper tomato soup shouldn't have sugar. People claim to use it to tame acidity, but people easily go overboard

Generally I disagree, but I understand the sweetness thing. I always add onion powder and garlic to offset that

Preach. I love tomatoes, but tomato soup sucks ass.

Have you and it made with full fat milk and butter whisked into the soup? I hate tomato soup made with water, but with milk and butter it's something special.
by Deep-Shoulder-95231 month ago
IDK I've never made it, just tried various ones at restaurants or friends' houses.
by Ambitious-Cat91121 month ago
Have you tried it?
by Firm-Net1 month ago
The soup or grilled cheese and tomato soup? I've never tried grilled cheese with tomato soup because I hate tomato soup.
by StrategyThin1 month ago
So maybe grilled cheese flavored tomato soup might be a better tomato soup.
by Firm-Net1 month ago
As long as it's savory.
by StrategyThin1 month ago
And here I was ready to make a crack about not putting your grilled cheese in the soup.
by meredith541 month ago
Yuk. It's better without the cheese.
by Anonymous1 month ago
Who hurt you?
by Anonymous1 month ago
I just think it's yuck in general.
by StrategyThin1 month ago
I might try that. My main objection to tomato soup is the sweetness.
by StrategyThin1 month ago
Comfort food
by Fit-Breadfruit1 month ago
And? That doesn't address my aversion to the taste.
by StrategyThin1 month ago
Don't eat it. I hate whipped cream. I don't eat it.
by Fit-Breadfruit1 month ago
You need to make more appetizing than that. Unless you can improve the soup, I'm not interested.
by StrategyThin1 month ago
Oh man, I love tomato soup. Especially with salt and vinegar chips dipped in it.
by Anonymous1 month ago
Yes, but you're not loving it in its original form.
by StrategyThin1 month ago
I hate tomato soup. I love grilled cheese. I don't understand why people like the combination. TBH, I've only had the canned version.
by StrategyThin1 month ago
I disagree about the ketchup.
by StrategyThin1 month ago
Me too. I think tomato soup is too sweet, and ketchup is too sweet. So, I add plenty of chilli flakes to my tomato soup. Then I dip buttered toast into it usually.
by Anonymous1 month ago
The only thing I use ketchup for is French fries.
by StrategyThin1 month ago
I prefer either malt vinegar (i.e. salt & vinegar), or sriracha on fries.
