+17 I think everyone gives John Lennon way too much hate, amirite?

by Pure_Umpire3793 1 month ago

He was also physically abusive to his wife and child

by Environmental_Cap 1 month ago

I was not aware of the child abuse. That's a shame. Still think Ringo is more deplorable though

by Pure_Umpire3793 1 month ago

So then why do less people know about Ringo? People say he's the best when he's deranged. John was flawed. I mean Ringo literally made a song about wanting to be with underage girls like, I'm sorry but I cannot understand how people can still say John is worse or just as bad lmao.

by Pure_Umpire3793 1 month ago

Even though I'm english and a friend of mine **really** loves Lennon, I never liked the Beatles. I'm more of a Rolling Stones man myself. No hate to Beatles fan. Just not my cup of tea.

Tbh honest I also don't like his face

by Anonymous 1 month ago

OP if someone close to you in your life was all of these, all the time, would you feel the same way?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

A lot of people are misunderstanding. I'm not saying he's a good guy or anything but the fact that he gets the most hate when Ringo is very much more deserving

by Pure_Umpire3793 1 month ago

comparison is pointless People are so intricately complex that trying to say who's worse is pretty much impossible unless you narrow it down to specific aspects.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I mean morally, Ringo. He made a whole ass song about wanting to be with underage girls and brutalised his wife. And yet it's still apparently up for debate that johns the worst?

by Pure_Umpire3793 1 month ago

He hit multiple women by his own admission. He was 100% a wife beater. He also freely admitted to having anger issues for good chunks of his life. He also wasn't just absent from his oldest son's life for long periods, Julian has personally admitted the man sucked to be around when he did appear. Flat out calls him a bad father. You have also failed to mention Brian Epstein, the gay Jewish manager the Beatles had. While the relationship was never super strained between the two Lennon was known to say homophobic things to the man to try to rile him up. A lot of things on Lennon and the Beatles point out his treatment of Epstein was terrible.

A deadbeat dad is an asshole. He could cure cancer and end world hungry, and a deadbeat dad will always be an asshole.

by Unlikely-Cow 1 month ago

Deadbeat must mean something different these days, surely. The guy is one of the most famous people in the world, having written some of the most popular songs in the world. What do you mean by deadbeat?

by prohaskabrennan 1 month ago

Career achievements means absolutely nothing. They not any kind of indicator of someone's morality. There are a lot of reasons someone may push to be the best and a great many of them are completely selfish. Deadbeat dads abandon their children. They don't take responsibility for them, they don't provide for them, they do puts the child's best Interests first. If someone will not take care for their own children, they are not a good person no matter what they do.

People seem to hate Yoko Ono even more. Was there anything she did wrong other than being very loud and weird?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

IIRC people said she's the reason the Beatles broke up (like she manipulated John to step away from the group/pursue solo work?).

by Optimal-Sink 1 month ago

Thats what stans always say when their idol gets an SO.

by tessie69 1 month ago

Yeah there was the Chuck Berry incident...

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Was there anything she did wrong other than being very loud and weird? yeah, she's a woman. and Japanese at that.

I choose to love the music even if I don't find much to admire in the man. I'm ok with that for the most part.

by Competitive_Top 1 month ago

Yeah, you can absolutely appreciate someone's art /accomplishments while still being disgusted by their moral character. I mean if you're an adult that realizes no 2 paths in life are identical

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I must be out of the loop, I had no idea anyone hates Lennon.

by prohaskabrennan 1 month ago

I'm with you. Never heard anything bad about him. But also the beetles prime was 60 years ago so not super relevant anymore.

by Adventurous_Leg 1 month ago

Exactly, he was one of the most beloved and influential musicians of the 20th century.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

It's the internet. People will find a reason to passionately hate absolutely anyone

by mschaefer 1 month ago

In this instance there are legitimate reasons though

by Turbulent-Version446 1 month ago

There always are

You missed his most important flaw - being a phony

by Ova84 1 month ago

He's no holden caulfield I tell you that tbh I think mark david chapman didn't actually finish the book before he decided to kill lennon

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I have never heard anything negative.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I just don't think that he ever did anything admirable.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Ringo wasn't a tedious commie

by Dapper_Carry 1 month ago

Wow! I remember the day he died. Almost EVERYONE was in shock because he WAS A BEETLE, A LEGEND......

by Interesting_Owl4918 1 month ago

by bahringereliane 1 month ago

It's easy to hate a dead man.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I give him zero hate. In fact, no hate for any musician, alive or dead.
