+33 I dont think recreational drugs should be legalized or should be used at all, amirite?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I don't think the legalization of cocaine is even on the table. Anyway, legalization in general provides an opportunity for greater control and for curbing the black market.

What didn't you understand?

All of those cities saw huge reductions in crime as a result...

About 5 billion coffee drinkers are gonna come at your hard bro.

And alcoholics.

Think of all the sugar eaters

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Sugar isnt a drug, but the insulin spike you get defo is, so im going to allow it :)

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I think the positive is the feeling people get from it.

by Existing_Sink_9927 1 month ago

It's so moronic. If the ONLY things drugs gave people were the side effects and addiction issues, no one except the obviously insane would ever use them. Think harder OP. It'll come to you, I'm sure.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

i mean his point is still kinda rock solid lmao

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Yeah, his broader point is fine. You'll inevitably get the tossers rushing in to say "ummm but weed is nowhere near as dangerous as alcohol!" But tbh I think you could take his point to cover alcohol misuse too. (Caveat that you can have just one drink and you'd clearly not be doing it to get drunk. You can't have "just one joint" for any other reason than the psychoactive effects of weed.)

Does this mean we should return to prohibition?

by Enienow 1 month ago

I feel like you misunderstand or are purposely misinterpreting this issue. Very few people encourage someone to continue a coke habit and even fewer people would tell an addict they shouldn't get clean. People generally support some form of decriminalization because the war on drugs is a perpetually losing fight. It's really, really, difficult for an addict to get clean but it's a lot harder if they have to deal with the risk of being arrested for possession or the stigma associated with it. Not to mention all of the unsavory things that come with organized crime.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

By that logic junk food should be made illegal too.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

"Everything I don't like should be banned"

by Olin15 1 month ago

By that logic we should ban tobacco, caffeine, sugar, fat, driving cars,.....

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Exactly.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

You put this fantastically

by CertainEarth3248 1 month ago

Define "recreational drug". Have you ever used caffeine? Is every recreational activity a "harmful coping mechanism"? Should dangerous sports be outlawed? Time itself is slowly killing you; Should we outlaw time and the harmful side effects of aging?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

These guys just keep reinventing prohibition

by Lexus70 1 month ago

Just so we're clear, cocaine isn't comparable to weed. Weed is more similar to alcohol than cocaine.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I'd argue that cocaine and alcohol are more similar - weed is the outlier there.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Hats off to that comparison. 🤙

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I'm gonna be honest, the fact that you put weed and cocaine in the same category makes me think that you don't know enough enough drugs to actually have an opinion worth listening to on this. It's also interesting that you're not mentioning caffeine at all, despite the fact that it's more actively harmful than weed is and way easier to get.

get this man in congress immediately /j

by Anonymous 1 month ago

The cartels would definitely fund his campaign. Prohibition is good for business.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Why do people smoke cigarettes? There is absolutely no benefit from them they don't give you a euphoric feeling. It's called addiction.

by Past-Feed-9033 1 month ago

Weed and coke are two different animals. The majority of people are okay with weed the same can't be said for coke.

by gradyeva 1 month ago

You're against harmful coping mechanisms so you have the same issue with religion then yes?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

My mother made an interesting point once: if you legalize weed and allow people to use it, could it be a gateway to harder drugs if/when the buzz wears off? But then there's a counter point to that: if you legalize weed, could that placate people into not trying harder drugs? Overall, I don't like the idea of using drugs, hard or soft, unless it's a prescription thing.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Weed isn't a gateway drug for most people. Here in Canada it's legal and there hasn't been a significant spike in hard drug usage.

by deckowamely 1 month ago

I'd love to know exactly where cocaine is being made legal for recreational use lol

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Ok so your views on high sugar, corn syrup, alcohol and such? Essentially things that are indisputably negative to ones health overall.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Between smoking weed and insert unhealthy coping mechanism here, weed is almost always the healthier option.

by Brilliant_Path_2117 1 month ago

Weed definitely helped me when I was super ill all the time. It made eating easier and the long days stuck inside less depressing. I mean call that a coping mechanism all the way (and yer right) but so what? It helped. Also mate.... the benefit of doing coke is that it feels great. You know that right? Most people don't do drugs out of addiction or coping mechanics, but because it feels good. Also at the end of the day, it's a personal choice. I don't need the government telling what I can and can't do with my own body. Then there's the millions of arguments for it reducing crime etc...

by maegan29 1 month ago

Mushrooms have shown to improve plasticity in the brain (improving the ability of the brain to adapt, change, grow, etc) and helping depression among other things.

by ImaginaryDog9308 1 month ago

People always imply alcohol is not part of the equation when it's the most abused drug in history. Not to mention cheap, readily available, and the only "law" around it has to do with when you can buy it

by Anonymous 1 month ago

THC helps me sleep without stress dreams. That's why I take it.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I agree. Including alcohol.
