+47 Theo von is painfully unfunny, amirite?

by kuphaljulian 1 month ago

He's funny in general conversation, but it doesn't translate well to stand up for him, like lots of other people.

by Tricky_Month 1 month ago

He's good for the one liners.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I'll always associate him with Road Rules and that's it.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I find Theo unique in that he's basically made for being funny in conversations, but not even really podcasts. His standup isn't funny (to me), his stories are always outlandish and fabricated (or extremely exaggerated), but his little interjections or retorts are hilarious in a purely nonsensical fashion.

by schinnermadisen 1 month ago

Nah some of his funniest quotes are when he's alone on the podcast.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Few people can make me laugh as hard as Theo Von.

by No_Age 1 month ago

I dont think his standup is funny but he's hilarious on his podcast.

by Darestephon 1 month ago

Never liked him

by DietFun 1 month ago

Same, idk how people fall for his shtick.

You have a bad sense of humor.

Standup is far more popular now thanit was when I was a kid. Now a large portion of the viewers are elitist twats who think anyone less talented than Louis CK should just never touch a mic.

by champlinrosie 1 month ago

Yeah I remember when having a special truly meant than you made it and earned it. Now Netflix and others hand out specials like candy to anyone who went viral or did or said something controversial

Watching Dave attell on comedy Central every Friday night was oddly a highlight growing up.

by mariampagac 1 month ago

He's 45

by FantasticCaptain 1 month ago

Yes he is

by kuphaljulian 1 month ago

The guy from road rules? It can be funny

by Anonymous 1 month ago

What comedians do you think are funny now? Can't fall back on the goats.

by Ok-Respond-2886 1 month ago

Bill burr, Dave Chappelle, Shane Gillis. I don't watch a ton of comedy so I can't really speak on this

by kuphaljulian 1 month ago

Nah. He's one of the very few funny, original comics in the last 6-7 years.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

That is unpopular

Douchey frat bro humor

by Anonymous 1 month ago

That sounds more like Bert

Him too

by Anonymous 1 month ago

thats ok? There is no unified sense of humor, I actually dont find 99% of standup that funny, TV included. In fact the last standup I watched and actually laughed was Kat Williams doing that "every day im hustlin routine"...

by Fast_Confidence3702 1 month ago

His stand up isn't funny but he's hilarious in conversation

by Icy-Kaleidoscope-999 1 month ago

The dude is so god damn funny. He destroys me.

by Business_Honey8818 1 month ago

Like 70% of these podcast guys are entertaining on their podcast but flounder hard af in stand up.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I had to Google him, this guy is famous?

by LeadershipAbject 1 month ago

Yes I've had multiple people at work show me clips of his "comedy"

by kuphaljulian 1 month ago

Cannot listen to any of his podcasts because he always seems to think « how can I say this foul thing in the most genuine sounding way for laughs ». Everything he says is an act. Its like watching some character talk on a podcast.

Most of the really popular comedians now a days are painfully unfunny

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Who?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Chappelle hasn't done anything funny in years.

by Alert-Garden3147 1 month ago

And what's up with comedians ducking up to right wing politics? I remember when great comedy punched up at the establishment now they simply for them

by noelroberts 1 month ago

Some of them are right wing and some of them have a few views that line up with the right so you classify them as right wing .

by Anonymous 1 month ago

This just sounds like you have more of an issue with right wingers. It's sad that you can't even put politics aside for COMEDY. Is the right vs left thing on your mind all day?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

>but I don't see how he's more famous than genuine comedians. He's not.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I mean not all of them but there are people with real talent that are less famous than him

by kuphaljulian 1 month ago

Yep it's more often about luck and going viral over talent

by noelroberts 1 month ago

I can think of at least a few famous comedians who I don't think are talented or funny

by Anonymous 1 month ago

They are showing you stand up clips? Or his show? I enjoy his podcast and thats usually what I see shared of him, not much of his stand up

by HippoDowntown 1 month ago

Podcast. I didn't know he did stand up

by kuphaljulian 1 month ago

Quick to pass judgement on his talent as a comedian without knowing what made him famous

by Anonymous 1 month ago

His stand up might have got him on the screen, but that's definitely not what he is famous for, at least now. He's famous for his Whitty quips and outlandish, out of pocket remarks. Most people here agree that his stand up isn't the best.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

His standup got the attention of 'Comic Maker' Joe Rogan. Despite elevating some of the most unfunny and insufferable human beings, he is probably the most important person for making it big in the podcast scene. Going on JRE is usually positive exposure. That's what I meant by what made him famous, not why sorry

And an absolute racist pos

by emmerichrowland 1 month ago

Hes a textbook coworker comedian like Shane gillis

by Rich_Proposal 1 month ago

Ooh don't compare him to Gillis I actually like him😭

by kuphaljulian 1 month ago

I don't pay attention to drivel. Life is sweet when you ignore the meaningless trash that some people admire.
