A stand-in is more likely to stand out. amirite?

Good for you for believing that. Why should I believe it? A good stand-in's job is to not stand out, they succeed by blending in seamlessly, not by drawing attention to themselves.

I just mean if someone is a backup, they probably aren't as good as the person they are replacing (in sports, theater, music, etc.). If the stand-in was good enough, they wouldn't be a stand-in...

And if you stand out, you most likely stand alone.
