Smokey was 100% over the line

by ExpressProgram4929 2 days ago

So his toe slipped over the line a little, it's just a game, man

by Jaded-Drummer-8144 2 days ago

It's a league game, Smokey

by Anonymous 2 days ago

But he wuddn't over!

by Objective-Mood110 2 days ago

It was league play, too. This isn't 'Nam. There are rules.

by harrisgregg 2 days ago

The Supreme Court has roundly rejected prior restraint!

by Objective-Mood110 2 days ago

I got buddies who died face down in the muck so that you and I could enjoy this family restaurant!

by Jaded-Drummer-8144 2 days ago

This affects all of us, man!

Walter put the piece away!

by Anonymous 2 days ago

this is not a first amendment thing, man

by Schoenford 2 days ago

Well … Yeah well like that's just your opinion, man.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Obviously you're not a golfer

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Yeah well that's just - DAMMIT

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Sir, lower your voice

by Jaded-Drummer-8144 2 days ago

Shut up Donnie, you are out of your element!

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Calmer than you are.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

You sound like a nihilist.

Say what you will about national socialism, at least it's an ethos

by darrickgislason 2 days ago

Yeah, well, you know, that's just like, your opinion, man.

by evanskuhic 2 days ago

It is, but it really pulls the room together.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Watch it three more times. For most of it, it just keeps getting better. It seems mid on my first watch too but kept getting better

by Over_Swimming 2 days ago

Took me two watches.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Sorry you are unable to grasp its greatness.

I myself dabbled in contrarianism, Dude. Not during ‘Nam of course.

by Realistic_Quail2461 2 days ago

This movie is saved to watch on my list and I've never been able to get through it. Every time I see an instagram reel about people's funniest movies of all time this is on it and I just don't get it. I'm a huge fan of the comedies from that era as well.

by hyattsophia 2 days ago

What in god's holy name are you blathering about?

by Beginning_Dirt 2 days ago

There's a lot of ins, a lot of outs, a lot of what-have-yous

by darrickgislason 2 days ago

It's decent, but Raising Arizona is by far my favorite Coen brothers movie. Also, it's hard to believe that people so invested in bowling could be so objectively bad at it.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

O Brother for me, but Raising Arizona is a close second

by Anonymous 2 days ago

"Why H.I., looks like you've been up to the devil's business!"

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Really? You don't know a bunch of chodes that suck at golf but only it all the time? Ya, sit down.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Have you met most sports fans?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Never disagreed with an unpopular opinion more than this.

by Candid-Promotion 2 days ago

Yeah but where is my rug

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Get 'em guys.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

In-N-Out Burger is not very good.

by Sad_Internet7818 2 days ago

It's not a bad film but I agree with OP, I don't get the hype.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Forget it, Donny. You're out of your element!

by Anonymous 2 days ago

You are obviously not a golfer

by Substantial-Bad 2 days ago

That's just like your opinion dude

by uokeefe 2 days ago

Is it an age thing? I'm about the same age as Jeff Bridges. I absolutely love this movie.

by Defiant_Shape_8897 2 days ago

Look at OP, doing his Lamont Cranston impression and seeing what lurks in the hearts of men. It's a well loved movie for many reasons. And how is a movie just " mid ", but also enjoyable and rewatchable? Methinks OP doth protest too much.

by Substantial_Mud_660 2 days ago

LLLLLLLLLLLLLL TAKE

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Seriously overhyped.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Agree. Watched it ten years ago and didn't like it and haven't been able to bring myself to a rewatch.

by Extra-Signal 2 days ago

TBH i didn't like it much at all, i was bored. My friend showed it to me recently

by Wolfdorcas 2 days ago

Hated it.

by Local-Pain-3513 2 days ago

I'm on your side. It's way overrated.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I agree with this, I've watched the movie 3 times over the course of 15 years and each time I get half way through and tell myself "isn't this a comedy". There are some brilliant and funny scenes, but overall it just bores me.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

It's a good movie. I think Kingpin is funnier.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Wholeheartedly agree.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I'm with you not understanding the obsessive fandom - I feel the same way about Star Wars - but I definitely think it's better than a majority of other films covering roughly the same ground. It's a good movie…but there's plenty of good movies, this is just one of them.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

My wife made me watch Star Wars years ago, and I legit fell asleep halfway through because I was so bored. I just don't get the appeal of the whole genre, or the fans who make it their whole identity.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I think it's mid by the standard of the Coen bros catalog, but it's definitely not by movie standards.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

This is the correct answer. It's a good film, but compared to other Coen brothers movies it really is just mid.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

You are not old enough to enjoy the movie. Give it time. The movie will find you

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Totally agree. I've been told so many times by so many people how it's one of the best movies ever made. And it definitely is good but I don't know why it's talked about so highly amongst almost all of my friends.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

All people I know who held this movie this high in regards were depressed...I found it boring as hell. The ashes in the wind thing was so predictable and not funny but a lot of people find it hilarious..

by Anonymous 1 day ago

It's a cult classic. No cult classics are actually good. If it's legitimately good then it's a good movie, not a cult classic.

by Substantial_Side_920 1 day ago

I agree. It never hit for me.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

OP, I don't like your jerk-off name. I don't like your jerk-off face. I don't like your jerk-off behavior, and I don't like you, jerk-off

by FrontAd3651 1 day ago

It's just the memes man.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Watched it once in a film class in high school. Didn't get the hype.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

The first hour or so is great. After that, it sort of drags on and nowhere near as good IMO.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Does it insist upon itself?

by Amonahan 1 day ago

Not unpopular in my opinion, has some cool scenes but doesn't hang together at all. I find that with many of their films. Exception to inside Llewellyn Davis, that was good

by Anonymous 1 day ago

This is what happens when you find a stranger in the alps!

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Proinsias Cassidy, is that you?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I just turned off the cinematic masterpiece that is The Town, and put Lebowski on because of you. Unpopular achieved

by ExpressProgram4929 1 day ago

I watched this and pulp fiction again recently. Still loved this but unfortunately pulp fiction didn't do it for me, which I wasn't expecting at all

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I think it has more to do with it typifying the Coen Brother's style of film making than people wanting to fit in by claiming to like it.

by Individual_Big 1 day ago

I kind of agree with you, but you have to also consider the time in which the movie was made. Society's sense of humor has largely evolved since then.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Well that's like, your opinion, man.

by Ornroyce 1 day ago

An amazingly well written and timeless comedy. Your take is unpopular because it's wrong.

by BroccoliGlobal 1 day ago

It's a Raymond Chandler novel come to life. I love it

by reesewintheiser 1 day ago

Great movie, you just have bad taste lol

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Honestly, never seen it. Along with Titanic. I've not seen most movies 🫠

by zstrosin 1 day ago

That's fine. But why do you - and so many people - have to accuse others that have the opposite opinion on something to be lying/faking/bandwagoning? Are you so insecure in your opinion that you can't accept that so many people disagree with you? They must just be PRETENDING to disagree with you? It's the silliest most egocentric nonsense ever, and I see it more and more about movies and music.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Completely, 100 percent wrong, untrue, false...

by Anonymous 1 day ago

What makes it great is its a film noir detective movie, but they replaced the detective with an absolute slacker, and yet the "case" resolves itself much the same way as it would in an old Raymond Chandler film. It's a brilliant takedown of the conventions of the genre.

by Repulsive_Rip6379 1 day ago

I think it's a very above average film especially as a comedy. But no obviously not the greatest film ever. I can see why it's people's favorites though which I don't but many conflate with objective quality

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Donnie you're out of your element!

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I was a huge fan until the whole 'dudes for Kamala' thing last year.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

What in god's holy name are you blathering about?!?!?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

It's one of the most tightly written comedies of all time, there's barely a line wasted that doesn't have some comedy in it, while further expanding on the characters. Not just the comedy element, it's also got strong themes of masculinity, aggression and responsibility which is compelling each time you watch it. It's incredibly dense, and purposefully impenetrable on first viewing but the density is what makes it become more enjoyable each time

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I adore the irony... The Dude is not chill, and never bowls a frame while being very unpleasant.

by Madge79 1 day ago

Congrats! An actual unpopular opinion!

by Toddibbert 1 day ago

YTA

by fletalehner 1 day ago

Yeah totally agree

by schuppealvah 1 day ago

I've seen it exactly one time and I wasn't impressed. It was fun enough, but to me it's one of those movies that hits better when you have a a memory to attach to it. Like you saw it for the first time getting high with your buddies or something.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Maybe take another look. It's gotta be down there somewhere

by Aromatic_Assist4744 1 day ago

I always fall asleep or get distracted somewhere in the middle and come back for the ending and I really don't think I lose much. I always joke about that movie that as many times as I've seen it I have no idea what happens in it.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

You are out of your element

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Any movie that is genuinely rewatchable is a great film

by Several_Lab 1 day ago

Including to known pornographers

by Anonymous 1 day ago

you are entering a world of pain

by Schoenford 1 day ago

Found Donnie.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Idk if it's mid, but it isn't some masterpiece, and is definitely glazed a lil too much sometimes, but I feel like most fans of the movie would agree with me on that. I'm only 20, and since it's a kinda old, adult movie I didn't watch it as a kid, so when I watched for the first time like last year or smthn it just didn't live up to hype, it was fine, even pretty solid movie, I enjoyed it for the most part and it didn't overstay its welcome which is a big plus compared to a lot of movies these days, but overall it was just... fine like a solid 6-7/10 a little better than mid, but not great. I say all that to lead up to the point that it's mostly a nostalgia movie that for the most part only people who were around when it came out are gonna care for, or people that find something specific in it to latch onto, whether it be the style of humor, the actors, or really whatever they find cool, that makes the movie almost like a special interest of theirs.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I love it but it's a product of its time and someone watching it now with fresh eyes is entitled to their opinion.

by chandler93 1 day ago

How many oat sodas have you had today?

by Boscokira 1 day ago

You're supposed to watch it while tripping you lemon

by Elowe 1 day ago

The Lebowski fanbase is one the dumbest around. All you are going to get are quotes and memes from them. Move along.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I agree with you.

by OkSteak8626 1 day ago

It's pretty damn funny.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

OP Probably: "it can't be good if it didn't turn into a franchise"

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I don't trust the opinion of people who use the the terms "fire" or "mid"

by Christelle63 1 day ago

I'm going to make 🍿and watch the replies.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

This isn't unpopular. You're an antagonist *sshole!
