The Bib Gourmand list is a better guide to restaurants for most people than the Michelin Guide, amirite?

Bib Gourmand spots usually hit that sweet spot of great food without the pretentiousness or insane prices. Feels more curated for actual people who love eating out not just chasing status.

Depends what you are looking for. Bib gourmand is great everyday food. Michelin star is unique no where else food.

You'll never go wrong with the quality of a Michelin-starred restaurant; that's the whole point. But as Anthony Bourdain pointed out, good food can also be found in homes and small mom-and-pop places, a sentiment I suspect the Michelin folks would heartily agree with (they actively seek out small restaurants and give them stars).

They are just not ranking the same thing.

Agree 100%. Just came back from France where we ate at a bunch of bib gourmand restaurants and they were the perfect vibe while being at a great price point. Many offer set menus that are great deals. I don't think this opinion is unpopular though. Most people prefer the 'real' food at these kinds of restaurants. And most can't afford to consistently eat at Michelin star restaurants if they're lucky to have them in their city.
