I feel bad for my friends who are good at golf. They paid the same price to play as I did, but I get to play way more golf per hole than they do. I paid for the whole course, and damn it I'm going to experience every bit of it.

Golf isn't you against other golfers. It's you against the course. If you card a 90, and you know you shot 115, you're only lying to yourself.

If you are playing by yourself, that is perfectly fine. If everyone else is ok with it and it's a casual round, that's cool too. Just don't abuse it. I once played disc golf with one guy who took always took a second shot unless it was to his liking. 99% of his shots were not to his liking. It caused the round to take twice a long. Doing it in league or a tournament, not cool.

If it's not a tournament or whatever else, why is it important to you to have a better score? I mini golf with friends from time to time and I've had a wonderful time while finishing dead last. You could even still take the extra shots or whatever else if you want, but why not be honest about it?

A lot of the rounds I play start serious and turn into "practice rounds" once things fall apart. You can do whatever you like on the golf course as long as you're not holding up pace. Just don't say you "shot an 83" if you're taking mulligans, 8 foot gimmies, dropping wherever, and otherwise not playing by the rules.

Why do you care so much about him and his score? he doesn't care, are you the golf police? He can play however he wants if he's not slowing anything down. Why you feel so strongly about it is pretty weird. It should make no difference to you. Maybe take a second and think about this more.
