My dad would agree with you. His favorite salad is basically letuce with green onions and dill "flowting" in a mixture of water with vinegar, salt and sugar. He makes that and then lets it sit untill the letuce gets mushy and soggy. That's pretty much the standard salad we had as kids. I don't hate it but don't love it either
