It's because getting a white car is cheaper than certain other colours. That's also the reason (or rather one of the reasons) why you see almost only white cars in the Middle East

I don't like white (or yellow for that matter) because the dirt shows easier on it. Aside from that it's a car. I had a white car once because it was an absolute steal and I couldn't afford to turn it up.

White vehicle = rental car in head. I drove 3 hours to go to a dealership with the green color I wanted because every place near me only had white, black and gray. Boring!

Yeah, they always make me think of rentals. Cheap to produce and cheap to touch-up. I can appreciate some white cars, but it's hard to get past sometimes.

Personally, to me white is the only color that makes a car look like it's made of plastic instead of metal. For some reason, all other colors look like painted metal to me, but white just looks like recycled storm trooper armor to me. It's the only color I'll instantly veto when car-buying. It's also incredibly hard to keep clean.

White is 50% (really, it's about 75% if you do it right) of the best color scheme....Stormtrooper. I've been driving white vehicles with black trim/accessories for decades and refuse to diverge from this.
