People who hurt kids should receive punishment in prison, but not by other prisoners. amirite?

People in prison don't exactly have a reputation for doing what society thinks they should do.

I always find it funny that the idea of false imprisonment or wrongful conviction goes out the window with child involved cases. The reason why we don't drag death row inmates out and immediately execute them is because appeals and re-trials are a very realistic thing and people have had convictions overturned. We shouldn't allow vigilante prison justice to determine punishments

Anyone convicted of hurting someone should receive punishment in prison. That is what prison is for. If, as a society, we think those who hurt kids deserve more severe punishment that should be put into law rather than expecting other prisoners to take it into their own hands.
