+35 Using an app to get deals is fine. amirite?

Yeah of course it's fine Ya know what would be better though? Not having to use an app to get the lowest price.

You aren't getting it any cheaper; you are just paying part of the bill with your data.

I think people are pissed that you pretty much HAVE to use the app to get any kind of fair pricing. Of course it's cloaked in loyalty points and special offers - just trying to get back to what you paid for the food without the app a few years ago. Basically they want your data and aren't going to let you have the food at a fair price without it.

Well... we aren't exactly forced to out and eat fast food lol. There's always a better choice.

Except you gotta make an account, add all your information, jump through all the hoops, and the ad for deals are usually misleading. That's when I get a little hungry for something other than a burger (revenge).

How are they misleading?

Right... my McD's app says $2 for any breakfast sandwich. Pretty straightforward to me lol.

I hate adding more apps on my phone. I always keep my phones as long as possible and once I had to be very particular about the apps on my phone because space was so limited. People should be able to get some deals without having to add an app on their phone. Maybe not the best deals, but I eat out at fast food restaurants maybe twice a year. It's not worth it to me to have 5 different fast food chain apps I might be interested in to see what their deals might be. You used to be able to get deals from fast food chains without apps. But now they just want you for your data.

Deals used to be about getting customers, but now the chains have a large enough customer base that it's not about attracting customers; it's about extracting more from them.

If the fast food chains don't want my business anymore, that's fine. I'd rather support local small businesses anyways. And given that fast food isn't even cheap anymore, it's not even worth it. And I disagree that fast food chains have enough customers. There were a string of articles last year about how fast food restaurants were pushing deals due to losing customers due to inflation weariness.

I'm with the boomers on this one. If a meal only makes sense financially if I involve my phone, it's not a deal and I hate it.
