+42 Man of Steel is easily one of the greatest comic book films of all time. amirite?

Movie lost all credibility at this point.

Love the movie, the score, actors, etc. But the line: "What if I have to tinkle" was egregious. Wtf were they thinking

I liked it a lot. I remember my jaw wide open watching the whole final fight, the damage being done to Metropolis, and I was like "holy crap, someone finally got what a battle between two beings of this caliber would be like". I also loved the depiction of Kryptonian technology, which for a change felt quite alien and effortlessly advanced. Lots to love about it in my book... but one of the greatest comic book films of all time is a bit too far for me. It was solid, and I think that fight is noteworthy, but it has a lot of flaws too. A few too many for me to put it in the great category.

I enjoy MoS to an extent, but it's not even the best Superman movie. Maybe best live-action Superman movie. And that's just because it has an actual central narrative and isn't just a string of loosely related scenes like Superman from 1978.

No son, don't save me for...reasons.

by Asleep_Day 2 days ago

Reasons that are perfectly explicit in the film, and which are increasingly prescient given the way that those in authority tend to treat those who are different.

lol no

They were explicit and very dumb.

I am a DC comics first and foremost, and I've been hoping for a great Superman movie for years, and MoS was the best we've got. I also liked BvS and Justice League more than most people. I think MoS has the two best depiction of superpowers, when Faora is zipping along hitting those soldiers, and when Superman is fighting Faora and Nam Ek, and Nam Ek grabs Superman by the foot and slams him into the pavement. I love how they show all three of them are basically immortal. I think the third best depiction is from Justice League, when Flash is running, and Superman looks over at him and starts chasing him. I like when you're reminded that even though speedsters are fast, they are still running away from Superman. Snyder isn't a very good director, but he's GREAT at directing action. I'd love it if he shows up on random movies and films a balls out action scene and then leaves.

I think the third best depiction is from Justice League, when Flash is running, and Superman looks over at him and starts chasing him. Yeah, that was fantastic. Superman had to intercept him, not catch him.

Man of Steel is underrated. It's really fantastic. Shame every other utilization of the Cavill Superman WB had done sucked. But Man of Steel was great.

I also really liked it. I wish the other sequels and spin offs delivered as much as this first installment did.

The gravity machine affects everything except Lois Lane.....

It's really not. It completely misunderstands the character of Superman. I like Henry Cavill's look for the role, but Snyder is a truly terrible director who does not understand Superman whatsoever.

It answered the age old question: "What if Superman was a dick AND a murderer?" It also granted Supes the thing he wanted most, Lois and Jimmy Olsen amalgamated.

They keep using the same villains tho.

by VividConfusion151 2 days ago

Um. How is this different to Spider-Man, X-men, Batman

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Had some interesting ideas, and Caville was a great Superman, but this movie was meh at best.

Best Superman movie, period. Second best is Hercules ‘97.

Anyone who hates on the dad's death scene shows they have no idea what believing in something larger than one's self really means. If you aren't willing to stand on business for your values and the lessons you want to teach others then you don't really hold them at all at the end of the day.

by TemporaryProof7276 2 days ago

lol no, it's just terrible writing.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

That's a terrible take.

by TemporaryProof7276 2 days ago

In canon, young Clark has saved a ton of people without revealing his powers, in front of crowds. This was lazy writing, because he could have done it here as well. Especially lazy because we've seen him do it before. I don't mean to come off as a dick, but I don't think you know what you're talking about

by Anonymous 2 days ago

It's not. All of snyder's DC stuff is terrible.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

it's just bad. Having your dad literally commit suicide before your eyes is the stuff that breaks a person. Jonatan could as well have set clark on the supervillain path.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

What lesson was that supposed to teach? "Hey kids, hide your powers and let your dad die because reasons"???
