Good people outnumber bad people 10 to 1 in our world, amirite?
by Anonymous10 hours ago
That's where my career's headed right now, its an interesting experience for the short time its been for me so far but I'm glad to be a part of it.
by DependentUnable10 hours ago
Exactly, there are more good people than bad people, the problem is its a lot easier to destroy than it is create.

Most bad people are not bad, they are indifferent.

Is choosing ignorance and not taking action a mark of a good person?

This

Damn.. very unpopular imo. I'd argue those numbers should be swapped.

This guy gets it
by Anonymous8 hours ago
Yeah that's a better way of putting it
by Anonymous8 hours ago
every single one? that sounds unlikely

I think each person is on a spectrum. Some percentage good and some percentage bad. There is no one who lived a whole life never doing anything bad. Well, they say Jesus was the only person without sin, if you believe in that.
by Anonymous7 hours ago
I bet its higher than that.

Morality wise I could see many people folding when pushed given the spot. In my opinion it's not necessarily there's more just a tolerance from the mass majority. All of us are legit in our own fantasy every given day like a hamster running on its wheel.

We should be punishing the 1/10 more harshly like El Salvador. It worked great for them.

I agree that truly bad people are much rarer than truly good people but neither are very common. Normal people that can do bad things but are usually good outnumber truly good people 10 to 1 easily, probably even more drastically. also I believe most politicians fall under the "normal" alignment, it's just that us normal people are typically pretty easily corrupted by money and power.

I think most people are neutral I would say maybe 10% of people are good and 10% are bad. As for myself I'm good to people who are good to me and bad to people who are bad. I support whoever or whatever benefits me the most and if you think about it you probably do too.

Even most politicians are good people. You remember the assholes more. And honestly even a lot of the seeming assholes probably care about some issues that you don't prioritize and have genuinely tried to help with them but have run into a wall and become jaded.

No, good and bad people are outnumbered by banal people, who tend to side with the bad people. Hint: read the Banality of Evil

It's not a question of luck. People who seek out power don't deserve to have it. But they are the ones who get it. That's nature. Not even human nature, just nature in general.
by Madysonwunsch5 hours ago
Good people do not seek out power, and when they have it they do not seek to consolidate it by oppressing others. This lets bad people run ramshod over good people.

Clarification question-what is the definition of a good person, and what is the definition of a bad person?
by AdvisorWise675 hours ago
I think this is true. Bad people are just way more visible.
by Anonymous5 hours ago
Perhaps in your experience
by Anonymous5 hours ago
Good people also follow the rules. Not a good trait when fighting fascists.
by HelpfulGrape18434 hours ago
Are you familiar with the Dungeons and Dragons alignment chart? It distinguishes between being good and being lawful, so you can have people who are evil but follow the law (think spiteful cops or crooked lawyers) and good people who don't follow the law, like insurgents under corrupt regimes.

Nah this is straight up BS

Overall I believe there are more good people in Earth but who know what that ratio would be. And good people sometimes make bad decisions
by Anonymous4 hours ago
How "good" are we talking? Honestly I feel like it's "normally" distributed, where there's a few really good, a few really bad, and most are just ok. I feel most people I encounter are in that ok category, where they tend to keep to themselves and their core circle and don't really go out of their way to help others much. Whereas to be really good, you'd need to be making efforts to better the world around you, and I don't see most doing that. Including myself, I can do better.

I agree but invert it.
by Celestino413 hours ago
I'd say 80% of people are neutral
by jerdegay2 hours ago
Hard disagree.
by Anonymous2 hours ago
Did you not pay attention to the election?
by Anonymous2 hours ago
Honestly I think you are underestimating good people. I think it's really like 100:1 when factoring that we know propaganda works and someone isn't bad just because they've been propagandized
by Dramatic_Count2 hours ago
But the fact that good people refuse to just unalive bad people is why the bad people get to take over.
by Anonymous1 hour ago
Anyone who thinks people can be irredeemably bad or unshakably good is probably closer to becoming the former then the latter.
