As a white English speaking man...I actually agree. To some extent western systems and values assume all people will necessarily act in their own rational self interest so when they struggle within western systems it is treated as a failure of character rather than a flaw in the system. This is backwards, as psychology as a field of study has developed there has been an increasing amount of evidence showing that we largely byproducts of our inputs - and western systems failing to adapt to this has caused a lot undue stress for a lot of people.

personal responsibility only goes so far. personal accountability only goes so far. conservatives espouses personal responsibility and personal freedoms and personal this or that, but they always forget that it only goes so far. id say only about 50% of people can do that. thats why im a liberal. they know that personal stuff only goes so far, and people often need help. they would help the 50% and also the other 50%.
