... yes, some of them do.

Valid concern but it's still infinitely better than doing nothing

Sometimes yes, and often enough they have a second look over a bill to check for issues that have been raised.

If you go talk to your counsellor in your region, they will tell you they can't take action unless they know a lot of people want it. Then you bring them a letter full of signatures and they can at least take a look at it seriously.

No they don't

No, I actually was referring to change.org and other similar petitions that people plaster on social media. Whether theyre used for local or federal politics, I think people who believe they'll actually change something with signatures is naive.

That's very cool that South Korea did that but even on that page it says while the petitions were addressed, they didnt necessarily change anything.

Depends on which one it is. Change.org is meaningless, but the ones that're run through websites where the government legally has to look at it if it hits a certain number of signatures aren't pointless.

online petitions absolutely do work. if they don't get the amount of signatures required then it won't do anything, sure. but the ones on official government websites are debated once the amount of signatures are reached

Well, they are.

agreed. petitions never actually did anything. the required signitures are so low that id just laugh it off.

Oh so you when you get a big list of names and no other consequences you wouldn't listen?
