towels trap bacteria and transfers microbes from moisture.. every time you are transferring your skill cells, sweat, and microbes onto fabric. dead skin cells and oils which feed into that bacteria that can increase acne, irritation, or transmission of skin infections. this is all an objective fact. 2 weeks is even infrequent. bath towels need to be washed 3-4 uses or 3 days max. TLDR; sharing towels is like sharing underwear. just because it's someone you're close to doesn't make it safe and moisture, bacteria, and skin-to-skin residue don't discriminate. separate towels = lower risk for skin infections, breakouts, and irritation.
