As a veteran with PTSD I still love fireworks and you should be taking steps to help your dog knowing well in advance that today is a hard day for any dog. Thunder blankets do so much good when the sky is exploding.

So, how do you expect people to "control" pets with nervous conditions exactly? It's not a control problem. Not even mentioning ear plugs don't work to completely negate the reaction to fireworks and can't really be feasibly used with kids especially babies. But I'm glad your need to spend money to detonate explosives into the sky comes before the comfort and safety of others.

Honestly dude if we could have them just through the evening of July 4th, I feel like that would assuage a lot of the annoyance. Like, fine, several hours of wow kaboom lights clap clap, but then we're done. No waking our asses up every 30-mins throughout the night and no random ones through the next week.

A lot of people set off fireworks for far more than one night. You can't exactly wear earplugs while driving or in a lot of other situations. Also, earplugs can be painful for some people. And not all of them work.
