Thank you for the most unoriginal opinion ever

I mean... I agree, but the same applies to pretty much any public show.

I understand taking a picture or two of an artist on stage, or maybe even a short clip. But fireworks is a whole other level of pointless

"you are likely never going to have any value for the picture or video in a week"

Yea of a firework picture. Not a concert picture.

I mean, there's a big difference between a public show and a concert (for a lack of better words). Most firework shows are available to the public for free. But even light shows at a theme park, usually done at the end of the day, may be worth recording if you're including things like your kids' reactions. I'll even say the same for those public shows. That said, the commonality of pulling out your phone to record every single thing really holds no value other than that of the recorders. Most people don't keep photobooks and dated videos outside of their gallery in any way that holds any less significance than their memory.

I don't go to fireworks shows. I can't stand the noise. My parents film them for me to see when they get home.

You could just youtube "fireworks shows" and get much higher quality videos

Why would I want to do that? I'd much rather watch a video with slightly less quality (which, if you know how to work your phone camera alot of them can video fireworks pretty well nowadays lol) where I can see what was actually happening in my area, while my family talks about them and why they liked them. Its about bonding with family, not min-maxing my life.

"Fireworks are about bonding with family", says the person who gets their fam to record it on their phones then watch it later 😅 You do you buddy.

Can you get some good noise cancelling headphones or wear ear plugs? A phone camera deteriorates the quality so much

Taking decent photos of fireworks requires a tripod and a low shutter speed and it can look pretty nice. On a phone though it's gonna be a bit rubbish.
