Things make sense to you cause you are used to it, not because they actually are superior, amirite?

Another example, I think everyone should use paragraphs when they write.

Yeah I wish we could switch to metric, it's so much easier to convert anything. 1ml = 1gram of water, 100cm in a meter. It's all so much nicer. Instead we use units based on god knows what which leads to more nonsensical units like a large boulder the size of a small boulder.

In general I agree. Humans are not logical machines, they are predictors. We are not so much interested in the absolute truth, or the most reasonable truth, just on a truth that is reasonable enough while being easy to calculate (that is, simple). That's where stereotypes come from, it's easier to determine the character of someone based on they way they look than to actually go and try to learn about said person. Of course stereotypes will give you way more erroneous conclusions than actually interacting with people, but it's a heck of a lot easier and faster. What you're saying is a consequence of the same behavior, once something is learned and we are used to it, sticking to it is a lot easier and faster than trying to switch it up, even if it's "not as good", so long as it is "good enough".
