You also can't control the lives of people in the same state or country so why do you care about them either?

Let's say you were born into a bad family and you didn't feel patriotic towards your country, what now?

I feel the same but opposite. I don't care about most on the Internet, or in my country or state. To me unless it is your family, friend, or someone somehow connected to you, who cares? Everyone that you don't share some emotional connection with should have the same value as any other living creature, be it elephant or cat or fish.

I care about my family and friends. I also don't really give a crap about my native Dutch culture or co-inhabitants of this piece of Earth called the Netherlands, at least not more than I do about humanity in general. In fact, I feel myself drawn more to other cultures than to my own, and seeing how people live and eat around the world fills me with wonder and excitement. My own culture is just boring, and I feel stuck here, so the internet is the only way I can learn about other cultures and cuisines, and get inspired to recreate foreign dishes here at home. I also have a huge interest in geopolitics and conflicts around the world, because that's also a part of people's everyday experiences, plus it relates to my job (which I love). Then again, I've always considered myself a cosmopolitan and I despise anything to do with nationalism and patriotism, so that might have something to do with it as well.
