+72 It low-key pisses me off when people say Happy 4th, or Happy 4th of July instead of Happy Independence Day, amirite?

by Anonymous 9 hours ago

How do you feel about "happy turkey day!"?

by Anonymous 9 hours ago

Its annoying as well, unless its being said as a joke. Which it normally is, because the Holliday is called Thanksgiving

by Anonymous 9 hours ago

Happy Freedom Day

by Anonymous 9 hours ago

I hope your 4th went well

by Special-Release-6958 9 hours ago

What independence?

by Anonymous 8 hours ago

I hope you have a blessed 7th Gregorian Calendar month, on the fourth planetary rotation for said month. I wish you a most monumentous Blessed Day of Being Free From The Boot Of An Oppressor Force, celebrating the 249th planetary orbit around the Sun since our great nation gained freedom from an oppressor force and declared independent agency.

Christmas wasn't the traditional name for that holiday in the past.

by Anonymous 8 hours ago

Yes, it is....however, it wouldn't matter even if it wasn't because thats what it is.

by Anonymous 8 hours ago

I just say "murica"

by Anonymous 8 hours ago

In Seattle, it's I-5 and I-405. In LA, it's the 5 and the 405. It's cultural. Try not to get too bent out of shape over it.

by Anonymous 7 hours ago

i call it traitor day if that helps. it's just 04/07 not much different to any other day

by Anonymous 7 hours ago

You're uneducated. The was wasn't about taxes, it was about representation. Which the king refused us on more than one occasion

by Anonymous 7 hours ago

I usually tell them i did until they reminded me but I'll forget again in an hour so its fine

by Dry_Aide_7018 7 hours ago

9/11 doesn't have another name, thats what the day is called.

by Anonymous 6 hours ago

9/11 has been designated Patriot Day since December 2001.

by Rohankrystel 6 hours ago

Well look at that, I didnt know that because people dont say the right name. Now I do, and I will call it that. Thank you

by Anonymous 6 hours ago

Happy 11th province day

by Anonymous 6 hours ago

You have a point, but 4th of July has been such a really popular colloquial term for Independence Day, everyone accepts that as the more popular term for the holiday. "December 25th" for Christmas it does not have the same impact.

Agree 100%.

Happy Independence Weekend

by Super_Fennel_3137 5 hours ago

Fair enough

by Anonymous 5 hours ago

I mean they often do this on purpose. I know Black people who say it this way because of slaves not being free in 1776

by Anonymous 5 hours ago

It's about Independence from a tyrannical government....not freedom as a whole. That was, amd is a process that takes a very long time.

by Anonymous 4 hours ago

Neither did woman technically, and for a while, neither did white men who didn't own land. It's a process, one that couldn't be started until they were free from England.

by Anonymous 4 hours ago

I mean yes this all supports my point lol

by Anonymous 4 hours ago

No, it doesn't. Nobody could have any freedom at all until England was overthrown. Junteenth couldn't have happened unless someone started to consider the concept of freedom. You have to celebrate the wins along the way. Rome isn't built, or destroyed in a day.

by Anonymous 3 hours ago

You admit everyone wasnt free. If everyone wasn't free they were still waiting on their day

by Anonymous 3 hours ago

They were still not under a monarchy, and therefore had more of a chance at freedom than before. And there WERE free black people. Just not all

by Anonymous 3 hours ago

Right so we weren't all free lol. Independence was still coming

by Anonymous 2 hours ago

When was the last time you wished someone happy Juneteenth?

by Ok_Visual_8299 2 hours ago

Umm Juneteenth which just passed lol

by Anonymous 2 hours ago

When have people ever not said 'happy 4th'? Seems like you're choosing to get angry about something that was never a problem.

by BoxFew 2 hours ago

I have always said Independence Day, because thats what the Holliday is called.

by Anonymous 2 hours ago

Independence Day? The name of the holiday is "the Fourth of July."

by No_Routine3132 1 hour ago

Its literally not, Independence Day is celebrated on July 4th. Thats exactly my problem, that people literally dont even know what the holiday is called.

by Anonymous 1 hour ago

I'm just messin, but personally, I've never called it Independence day, nor heard anyone wish me a "happy independence day" In my life.
