At least in baseball you know when it's coming at you... in golf someone miles away shouts "FOORRREE!!!" and you just have to pray π

golf looks chill but it's brutally precise. One tiny mistake and your whole shot's wrecked. It's definitely one of those easy to try, insanely hard to master sports.

Maybe golf has some of the smallest margins, but hockey for example you can't even play if you don't learn how to skate. Just being able to move around the ice is an entire skill.
by Anonymous1 week ago
Yup, imagine getting geared up to play football, and then putting on ice skates. Welcome to hockey

One time, I went to the fights, and a hockey game broke out ..

Have you ever watched Happy Gilmore?...he couldn't skate but managed to move about and fight people π
by Anonymous1 week ago
The whole point of the movie was he couldn't cut it in hockey. Golf was easier for him.

You have never played golf and it shows. I learned to be good at BJJ in about 13 lessons. Ive played golf for 8 years and only just started to get good.

Not only do I play golf, I'm solid at it. I speak from experience when I say it's not a hard sport. I do it to relax on weekends. The fact that you can go around and drink while doing it and still score well tells you everything you need to know about its difficulty. Playing sports like basketball and soccer are far more difficult with the stamina aspect alone. You see lots of athletes be really solid golfers because it's not hard to pick up. You only play golf and it shows.

Lots and lots of practice helps

I'd argue the hardest sport would be anything that requires full body coordination. Something like gymnastics
by LetterheadSad1 week ago
I'd say wrestling. People don't realize how long a minute is until you gotta full strength fight somebody off you lol

I was going to say boxing, but any combat sport really. Your mental preparation is as difficult as your physical, and there is a real chance of death or permanent injury. That doesn't exist in most other sports.
by Anonymous1 week ago
Didn't even think about boxing. Idk if I could focus while getting hit in the face lol

Golf is not a sport; your premise is invalid

Its in the Olympics π€·ββοΈ

So are pistol shooting and horse dancing
by Anonymous1 week ago
Those things should be combined into one sport. I'd watch dancing horses shoot pistols.

So was poodle clipping (Paris, 1900).

I think we all want Poodle Clipping back in the Olympics.

Try tennis
by rachel761 week ago
I have, and I can hit the ball back and forth with SOME kind of direction pretty easy with a friend. Couldn't beat a seasoned tennis player, but i can hit the ball with the racket and get some direction....with golf you can't hit the ball first try and if you do you have no idea where its going ππ¬
by Anonymous1 week ago
It took me over a decade to semi-consistently hit a ball in the air. Hard for me to say it's the hardest tho, because there some things I'll physically never be able to do, like dunk or throw a head kick.
by murraycordie1 week ago
Tennis is harder. The coordination, atheleticism, endurance is unmatched.

High alpine mountaineering is asking tennis to hold his beer...
by Dry-Bodybuilder54121 week ago
Nope. Big bouncy racket, medium sized bouncy ball, short distance to hit it, and after about an hour you could hit it back and forth with someone for fun - especially with 1 lesson. With golf, after an hour you'll want to β οΈ yourself and believe it is impossible to do - which is almost 100^ correct π

In a way, but the fact that nobody is there playing defense to deter you makes it completely independent of other people's skills. I only play golf a few times a year, but I can get out there and break 100 and play well enough to keep up with anybody and not make a fool of myself. If I played basketball against pros, I literally wouldn't be able to get a shot off. I wouldn't even be able to participate in the game because there's such a big skill and athleticism difference. If I play a round of golf, I'll probably hit a few legitimately good shots. I wouldn't even be capable of scoring on a pro defender in basketball, or hitting a major league fastball, or breaking a tackle against a pro linebacker in football, or dribbling past a pro defenseman in soccer. I'm physically not capable of it, but I am capable of hitting a good golf shot.

Golf is an extremely challenging game/ sport, but it will never be the "hardest" as it lacks the physical exertion element to it where decisions have to be made in the moment.
by kprosacco1 week ago
At least with golf it's just you and the ballβ¦ with horseback riding you have a 1,000+ pound animal that may or not be on the same page as you at any given moment.. try that out and report back lol! πββοΈπ

Baseball is the hardest sport. Golf is the most humbling.
by eli561 week ago
Interesting. Explain for me (English, haven't played baseball, only rounders)
by Anonymous1 week ago
agree with this 100%, if the qualifying factor for "hardest sport" is technique, it's 100% skating, gymnastics etc. if you land wrong, you don't just lose, you could also seriously injure yourself to the point of never being able to compete again. that's why they train so hard to learn proper form/technique
