+26 A lot of comic book characters have names that aren't used much anymore. Not too many Bruces, Clarks, Barrys or Archies these days. Not to mention barely any Richards that go by "Dick" anymore. amirite?

I think they tried to make Batman's first sidekick (He's had several "Robins" through the years), Dick Grayson, go by by Rich Grayson for a while, but long-time fans had a negative reaction and they walked it back.

He's just too iconic as Dick Grayson. I do wonder how much longer they can believably get away with it.

Sure, those names used to be normal for regular people in the 1940-1960s when those comic book characters were created too.

True. Not many named Lois, Betty, Veronica, Mary Jane or Gwen these days.

Had an elderly professor whose name was Richard Wood. Signed his name "Dick" pretty much always as far as I recall. He was a good teacher with a good sense of humor.

Because they are just older names that were popular at the time, but aren't really popular anymore. Has nothing to do with comics.

I'm aware, I just find it funny how these comic characters are likely to be the only places some people hear these names now.
