+55 Being Cold is Better Than Being Hot, amirite?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Definitely rather be slightly cold than slightly too warm. I find being hot stifling - bad mood, not alert. Plus hardly any homes are air conditioned in Australia - wtf is going on with that? Easier to throw on an undershirt and a jacket and be comfortable, than the other way.

by AcanthisittaBroad282 1 week ago

Exactly you can always layer up when it's cold but there's only so much you can take off when it's hot and you're still sweaty and miserable. Cold is manageable, heat just feels oppressive.

by PerformanceFit2592 1 week ago

I agree? There are only so many layers you can shed when you're hot. But you can pile on the sweaters and jackets when it is cold

by Character_Method_123 1 week ago

Agree with you. You can only remove so much when hot. Cold you can keep layering and layering

by One_Try 1 week ago

The thing is with cold, you can add as many layers as you'd like (until the weight crushes you but that's pretty far off)), but with hot, there' are only so many things you can remove. (I mean if you you want to remove your skin, all the power to you but I'd rather keep my skin on)

I agree. I'm sensitive to the heat and will throw up easily if I get overheated. I hate the summer because of the heat. Everyone in my family prefers the heat, but I hate it. Cold helps me relax and helps my anxiety as well.

by Johnathanboyer 1 week ago

Exactly. Winter is so peaceful

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Yup! Or maybe it's just because I was born during a horrible Blizzard in the winter that I was born for the cold and not heat lol.

by Johnathanboyer 1 week ago

interesting, personally i'm most anxious when i'm cold especially in mornings. That's why i love waking up in summer time

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Everyones different! Some people cope better in the heat, and others in cold. Our bodies are different. Heat just worsens my anxiety and I can't get comfortable. Last summer on one really hot day I was literally beginning to feel sick so I filled the tub with cold water to soak in. Just like some people in the coldest winter days need to just soak in a hot bath to feel better. We're all built different

by Johnathanboyer 1 week ago

Agreed. Eventually you run out of things to take off. It sucks that I think anywhere over 23C is too warm.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Im with you. Being cold just means putting on more clothes. When you're too hot there comes a point there's nothing left to take off

by TopJuggernaut7626 1 week ago

Definitely cold, especially at night. Nothing worse than being hot and sweaty while sleeping. Nothing better than bundling up under blankets when you're cold.

by Same_Evening_1062 1 week ago

Currently awake at 3am because I'm sweaty and pissed about it

The opinion of someone who has never worked outside in a 30 F below zero wind chill.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Would be better than working outside in 45C humid heat.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I prefer being hot. I love the warmth, love the heat. I don't mind being cold either. But what i truly do hate is being chilly.

I'd phoenix more violent than other cities in the USA?? 🤔

by hicklekarine 1 week ago

Where are the ongoing wars in Brasil?

by Tracyhessel 1 week ago

Brazil doesnt get nearly as warm as the southern us because of the coriolis effect pushing ocean currents. The hottest temperature recorded on the planet was actually in the US.

by Background-Skirt-920 1 week ago

Depends on how outside going I am.

by Kooky-Ad 1 week ago

I agree i dont think this is an unpopular opinion

by Parking-Total 1 week ago

I'd rather be cold than hot. It's much easier to get warmer (put on more clothes) than to get cooler

by windlerburnice 1 week ago

Absolutely definitely i prefer being cold than hot

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I absolutely agree with you and I will forever die on this hill. Being hot is the worst. I'm actually laying awake right now at 3am because I'm dying of heat. I have MASSIVE sensory issues caused by heat. If it snowed everyday for the rest of my life, I wouldn't be sad.

by GeologistLittle 1 week ago

At least with the cold you can add a layer, with the hot you can't remove more layer than naked

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Depends on the degree. Chilly breeze vs melting weather? Chilly breeze all day. Below freezing vs a sunny day, sunny day please. Where the line is drawn depends on personal experience and resources.

I used to be a lizard but I gain weight and now like I dint tolerate heat so well!, I also loved the shorter days and long nights of winter and like I really tolerate cold a lot better and heat less. I still like heat a little bit and humidity wiht mild temps is amazing, but I lost my lizardness.

by hicklekarine 1 week ago

I prefer Hot because I'm a cold blooded reptile.

by Lawsonkessler 1 week ago

I have always been more sensitive to heat than cold.

by krystalbednar 1 week ago

This isn't unpopular. It's objectively correct. It is far FAR easier to warm up and far more ways to warm up than there is to cool down.

by eloy27 1 week ago

Definitely. And it's a matter of what you can do about it, which the "rather too hot than cold"-people do not seem to grasp. You can always put on more clothes. You can never be less than naked. So if I'm naked at home and still sweating, it's too hot. Doesn't really matter if the other person next to me claims it's too cold if we turn down the heat. (Ignore the scenario itself, in this example I am indeed sitting naked while the others are dressed).

I live in a cold state, so I love sitting outside in the warm sun just cause summer is short here. I've death with enough cold weather. But it depends how hot vs how cold obviously.

by Marco66 1 week ago

Agree with you. Being cold is better when it comes to body comfort, because it's easier to warm up than to cool down. When cold, you can just pile up cloths and whatnot until you're comfortable with the temperature. This is a viable solution in many day-to-day situations. On the other hand, it takes more to cool down, because many of solutions aren't that effective in the long run.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I dont think this is an unpopular opinion. I also agree

by Parking-Total 1 week ago

I live in a cold dry climate, but humid cold is absolutely terrible. As a quebecois, i love my weather.
