+35 Citizens providing proof of illegal fireworks should be enough for fines, amirite?

If I have video of your house with fireworks coming out of your yard... Why don't you think that's enough evidence?

Is my yard fenced in or can just anyone walk over and be on my lawn?

It is a valid point. No one said it wasn't. All I did was say I had already addressed that valid point. Have lovely evening keeping your neighbors awake with your fireworks

Pretty sure that only applies to criminal cases. I don't know if firework bans are civil or criminal infractions Also, traffic cameras exist all over the place. This is just a version of that.

So, no due process, just auto-guilty and then fined without the ability to challenge the ticket? In what world would that be fair or constitutional. This is the main reason traffic cameras are not everywhere in the US, people sue and win cases all the time against traffic cameras using the aforementioned Sixth Amendment argument.

So, you want to snitch on people's fun and you want to make sure they suffer at least a financial punishment for it. Cool...

So you want to disrupt my sleep for weeks every summer for your selfish fun. Cool...

Weeks?

by Anonymous 2 hours ago

Yes. Been going since mid June. I can't imagine it will end 3 days after the 4th.

Where do you live that fireworks are available more than a couple days before the holiday, AND has laws ostensibly making fireworks illegal?

by Anonymous 1 hour ago

You're guilty because of evidence. So not guilty until proven innocent. If I have a video of your house with fireworks being fired off in your yard ... Why do you think that's NOT evidence beyond a reasonable doubt that fireworks were being lit on your property?

I feel like that video would be more than enough evidence to win an appeal. Which I already covered in my OP. I suppose the AI video could happen. It honestly that seem to be more about AI hysteria than my point, though. If there are more circumventions, as you implied, I'd be happy to hear other holes in my plan.

Lots of people just go to a park, a school, a parking lot or are vacationing at a lake or the beach when they set off fireworks. I think it would be pretty easy for people to get around this.

And it would be really easy for the cops to chill at parks and parking lots if they don't have to run all around town responding to calls. Also, it would move it away from people's houses. That's a win in my book.

Unpopular opinion: There should be a registry specifically for people against fireworks. Just like a child predator registry.
