There are alternatives.
by Ortizuna2 hours ago
Like what? You want people to pass around VHS tapes of them doing random things? What is the alternative to the internet that could support YouTube?
by Eleonorehoppe2 hours ago
Fwiw, we did have America's Funniest Home Videos. That was our "Youtube" before actual Youtube

You mean we could have had YouTube on television?

This is a blatant falsehood. There is absolutely no way YouTube would exist without the internet. I could go into the cultural and legal reasons, but the actual most important reason is accessibility. Nobody could have ever possibly created a YouTube for television or movie theaters. If you mean any other network, like the ARPANET, it's not only nonexistent now, even if it did still exist, it would be too limited access, and it was designed to handle minimum networking.

Usually it's we wouldn't have this the way we do without that No one denies that metal was an emerging genre with or without sabbath, it's just that they were heavily influential to how metal evolved and metal we have today would be extremely different if a different band was the one the pioneer the genre

But technically, isn't the root of all those groups gonna lead back to 1 group? I am not familiar with the group you're talking about, but it's possible these sounds wouldn't exist without the group at the start.

Pretty much every metal band that I've seen express an opinion on the matter (and certainly the main ones such as Metallica, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest) have acknowledged their huge debt to Black Sabbath. We can't really say what would have happened in rock music if Sabbath hadn't existed, but it would certainly have looked very different. Tony Iommi's trademark detuned guitar sound, which was enormously influential all on its own, was a result of his having to work around an industrial accident he'd had in a sheet metal factory in which he'd lost the tips of two of his fingers.

Your belief that "it will happen," implies that you think it'll happen in a vacuum without a predecessor, or that there aren't certain things that are a direct response to other things. Everyone who grows up to make music grew up listening to music and was inspired by some form of music that led to the creation of the music that they made.
