Oh yeah you're completely right. I love the film but the plot is nonsense. I love the line where Bond says that he's going to go 'some place where we have the advantage'. Really, James? You're in the middle of London with all the resources of MI6 at your disposal. And you have more of an advantage in your parents' derilect farmhouse that you intend to rig up with torture devices like it's a Home Alone film?

We can say he minimized collateral damage by drawing Silva out to Scotland away from any civilians in London. Killing Silva himself is a hollow victory as it seems he was planning a murder suicide.
