paper straws for plastic cups

Paper straws become unusable after like 5 minutes. I HATE them

by Anonymous 1 week ago

This hasn't been my experience at all. Not even close. And we've had paper straws where I live for the last few years now. I can comfortably use a paper straw for a couple of hours before they start to get bendy/limp.

by rosenbaumezekie 1 week ago

Yeah mine usually become mushy and unusable after I've been chewing on it for like 2 hours.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

What horrible things are you doing to these straws that they fail in 5 minutes?

by Inevitable-Year 1 week ago

Letting them sit in my drink ? lol

by Anonymous 1 week ago

they have no structural integrity whatsoever

by Anonymous 1 week ago

So they collapse under their own weight?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

After sitting in a drink for 30 mins they probably would collapse under their own weight.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Sure, but to say they have no structural integrity whatsoever is false

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I've used them and absolutely despise them.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

How slowly do you drink your beverages?

by rosenbaumezekie 1 week ago

I would say approximately 14 minutes.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

So not long enough for the straw to be compromised. Why despise them?

by rosenbaumezekie 1 week ago

I would say it is compromised by about the 3rd sip- usually within a minute or two. By the end, it is an abomination.

I've only gotten them a handful of times, and last time it was over a month ago for an iced coffee I got because we were out of coffee at home and I was out running errands anyway. I sip on coffee slowly. This damn straw didn't even make it 20 minutes home.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Then don't use a straw?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

If I'm driving I don't like needing to tip my head back. This place also didn't offer the sippy cup style lids that Costco and I think Starbucks carry. None of this changes that paper straws are all but worthless after 15 minutes.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I hate using them so much. Connecticut has a bunch of restaurants that use them exclusively and it's horrible every time. They stick to my lips, they become soggy after like 5 minutes, and they break half the time I'm just opening the package. I drink directly from the cup to avoid them, which means they are failing their primary job for me at least.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

They're nasty. I hate them. The metal straws we use at home are great.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

They're awful, and there's no point. I live in a city full of hippies and we've had straws made from corn and other biodegradable sources that feel and function exactly like plastic. There's no reason for soggy straws

by Anonymous 1 week ago

It really depends on the brand/quality of the straw. Some are absolute garbage, and others are fine.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I use them. They suck. They are also usually in plastic cups.

by Prosaccotavares 1 week ago

Have you ever been given a paper straw at a movie theater? I didn't hate them until my local theater gave me one while I was watching The Batman. The straw could not last for that amount of time.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

They get soggy and gross.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

My biggest issue is the way the paper sticks to my lips. Absolutely freaks my brain out

by Maritza64 1 week ago

At least there's no static cling for the insufflationists among us, just watch the drips

by Anonymous 1 week ago

How about a lid you can drink out of. How about just no straws

by Immediate_Scar8296 1 week ago

If you take longer than 10 minutes they are mush. I don't guzzle.

by Correct_Tour 1 week ago

I only use straws for blended drinks and the paper ones I've been given at restaurants make them unsinkable after a few minutes bc they swell and tighten, then go limp and collapse if you try to suck harder to overcome the tightening. Wider straws would probably fix that. I haven't seen wider that aren't the giant ones for boba.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Paper straws aren't as bad as people say. They aren't great but they're acceptable. The real unpopular opinion (and one I hold) is that if you're an adult what on earth are you doing buying a drink that uses a straw?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Who uses straws at all? Yall running around with your big boy sippycup

by Bhegmann 1 week ago

But then I cant launch Boba down my throat at mach 5 speeds

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Not sure what soda is, but paper straws are also used in milkshakes as well. They completely destroy themselves lol. The paper straws are fine with carbonated drinks though.

by Oconnertanya 1 week ago

You're out here just drinking milk on the regular? Gross

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I don't consume milk anymore personally, but milkshakes are a thing for other people.

by Oconnertanya 1 week ago

I don't use straws at all. I'm an adult.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Damn, you're so mature lol

by Dull_Alfalfa 1 week ago

You ever drink at a restaurant? Those glasses are covered in nasty…

by Anonymous 1 week ago

If you think the glass is nasty, what about the plates/cutlery?

by Oconnertanya 1 week ago

Sooo gross. That's why everyone drinks beer with a straw

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Not those kinds of restaurants.
